He banked on David Garrard. He will bring a good D which Oakland has in the works. They also have lots of cap space. AFC west looks to be opening up since Broncos are falling apart. He also won't have to play Peyton twice a year in his prime

Per Ian Rapoport, the Niners made the decision to hire Tomsula without having actually interviewed him for the job.

 

Tomsula's hire also is reported to mean they;ll be saying bye bye to Vic Fangio.

The Niners front office is making some baffling decisions.

Tomsula's hiring in SF makes Adam Gase's path interesting. If Denver passes on him, there may be a tug of war between Del Rio, Fox, and McCoy for his services. He could be OC under Del Rio/Fox, but McCoy would have to make him Asst. HC in SD.

Gase could potentially wind up back in the OC chair again, though probably not with Denver.

 

Gonna be real intrigued to see what happens with Kubiak.
