I don't want to be mean. I am sure he is a nice guy and all. I will only say that I wish him no ill will and that includes as a Carolina Panthers Tackle. His overall rating this year was not good enough to be a starting LT. If he was to be honest I am sure he agrees that he needs a lot of improvement and that he wasn't good enough. Thankfully Cam survived the season without any major or career threatening injuries. Byron please get much better if you are staying on the Panthers. A second to last rating is simply not good enough. How about top 15?

He would be fine as a back up, but for some teams, you just have to cut the rift raft.  We all know Rivera's love affair with Byron Bell.  Even if we got a better OT on the team via free agency or the draft, if Bell is still on the team, Riverboat would be tempted to continue to start him regardless. (See D-Will vs Stew)  You got to take the decisions away from this coaching staff, and hopefully that is where G-man comes in.

Those ratings are not accurate at all. Bell got dinged for a ton of points because he played injured when no one else could play. He also got dinged for a ton of things where he was supposed to get help that never came. At his best, he's mediocre and we definitely need to upgrade. But those ratings mean nothing.

 

Most of the fan base still blames him for the botched read option hand off which Rivera confirmed was by design.

 

I mean how many guys blamed him for Cam's rib injury which came on a perfectly protected play? He's just the target of everything whether it's rational or not.

Well I am not here blaming him for any specific play. He does need to get much better though. I thought that I was more than fair than most on here. Guess not.
