So Cap numbers and possible cuts

Something will happen with CJs contract this offseason but I don't think he's gone.

DeAngelo is as good as gone and a good guess would be him being the June 1st.  Not even counting the savings, he's addition by subtraction in this offense.

Who I see gone, either not being re-signed or cut:

Dickson

DeCoud

Cotchery

Bell

Tolbert (This will be the somewhat surprising one)

Blackburn

Cole

Dwan (maybe)

We can work another year with Stewart on the cap but I'm not convincing myself he's safe.  I think it would be worth keeping him another season.

Cam is not getting traded, that's just not happening.

Saw that earlier too that Stewart's dead money for a post June 1 cut was only 3.8M. Wtf? I thought that a post June 1st cut spread the dead money out over 2 years, so shouldn't we have 6.8M in dead money in 2015 and 6.8M in 2016?

If we really can cut him for that cheap though its great for us, despite how great he's been the past few months, because I really doubt he gives us anywhere close to 16 games at this level.

Stewart goes to a contender and runs wild in the SB. NE is a popular landing spot. or Indy, give them a better run game and they are a tough out.

BTW, we could easily restructure Chuck. Convert $8.88m of his $9.75m base salary into a signing bonus. We can either prorate it over the remaining two years of his deal, opening up $4.44m of cap space this offseason, or tack on an extra year and prorate it over 3, opening up $5.92m of cap space.

I don't think he's done, but if Gettleman wanted to designate CJ as a post June 1 cut, we would save $10m against the cap in 2015 and $11m against the cap in 2016.

I don't think we can afford to let both CJ and Hardy go in the same offseason however.

Stewarts cap hit for 2015 is $8.3m.  His dead money is $13.6m.  So we would lose cap space with a pre June 1st cut.

If he is designated a June 1st cut his cap hit would be spread out over 2 years.  His cap hit for 2015 would be $6.3m so we would free up $2m.

His dead money for 2016 would be $7.3m, which would be still be less then his 2016 salary of $9.55m.

What we do this offseason will play a HUGE role on if I get Sunday Ticket next season.

I'll watch a winner but sick of wasting money on mediocrity.

Well, they've been far better than mediocre last two seasons, so I don't know what the fug you're talking about.

BTW, we could easily restructure Chuck. Convert $9m of his $9.75m base salary into a signing bonus. We can either prorate it over the remaining two years of his deal, opening up $4.5m of cap space this offseason, or tack on an extra year and prorate it over 3, opening up $6m of cap space.

I don't think he's done, but if Gettleman wanted to designate CJ as a post June 1 cut, we would save $10m against the cap in 2015 and $11m against the cap in 2016.

Agree. Our defense relies on the ability to put pressure on the QB with just 4 lineman. CJ is our best pass rusher and will not be cut.
