Cap Space

We could easily have around $20-30M before extending anybody. I assume Cam's will be cap friendly and Norman's won't be too large. We're in good shape. This is assuming CJ is restructured, pay cut, or cut, D-Will is gone, and Hardy is gone.

it's not good, but it's better.

Dwill is gone.  CJ may be, as much as we need him, he's a 20 mill cap hit next year.

We can franchise Cam, but we also have the Luke contract looming.

Our list of ufa's is a bit underwhelming, we could lose them all and still be fine.  That is a very good thing.

The 2 biggest obstacles we have to getting to contender level is a horrifying lack of talent in the free agent

market at the left tackle position and the dead money we're paying that limits our ability to pay the guys we

need to.

In other words, another year of Hurney magic.  The better news is, after this year, we are much more flexible with

our finances, even after paying the Cams and Lukes, and we appear set for a very happy next 10 years.

We have roughly $129.5m committed next year for 45 players.

If the cap increases to $140m(plus our rollover) that would leave us with $15.4m to spend.

Normally I subtract $4m from whatever total to account for practice squad and IR.  Most GMs like to keep a little bit of a cushion.

In that case we would have $11.4m to fill out 8 roster spots.

Needless to say some players will be cut, restructured, or extended so these numbers will change a good bit before next season.

CJ, Kalil, and TD have large cap numbers next year but I can't imagine we let cornerstone guys who are producing at a high level leave over their cap number, especially when we have enough space to keep them.  Now if we have a shot at a difference making FA then I could see extending one or two of them to create some space but I am pretty confident they will all be back next season.

Cutting DeAngelo will free up another $2m (as a post-June 1 cut). Extending Cam should bring his cap number down as well. Maybe restructure CJ's deal to tack on a couple of years and spread out his salary. Could end up with $15m+ in cap space with those 3 moves.

We can get another easy 2 million cutting Decloud which we all agree is going to happen.
