2008 NFL Draft, Round 1 (Pick #26)

Recommended Posts

The Green Bay Packers picked Clay Matthews in the 1st round with the 26th pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

We got K. Benjamin with the 28th pick. #2014Draft

So, us having the 25th pick in RD1 this year is totally doable for more Gettleman Magic. I'll take a pass rusher or WR, and raise you a (Hog-Molly) in RD1?? #2015Draft

Here's a short list of previous #25 picks

2014-San Diego- Jason Verrett CB

2013- Minnesota - Xavier Rhodes CB

2012- New England- Dont'a Hightower OLB

2011- Seattle- James Carpenter T

2010- Denver- The Golden Calf of Bristol QB

2009- Miami- Vontae Davis CB

2008- Dallas- Mike Jenkins CB

2007- Carolina- Jon Beason MLB

2006- Pittsburgh- Santonio Holmes WR

2005- Washington- Jason Campbell QB

2004- Green Bay- Ahmad Caroll CB

2003- New York Giants- William Joseph DT

2002- New Orleans- Charles Grant DE

2001- Philadelphia- Freddie Mitchell WR

2000- Minnesota- Chris Hovan DT

History says that CBs are likely taken at this pick, especially in recent years.

Furthermore, around 25 is when teams start to see players falling (particularly QBs) and trade up to get them. Gettleman has basically, not so subtly, called out the Patriots for constantly trading down but that seems like a real possibility with where we sit.

History also says that with this pick we are likely to get a solid starter but not a superstar.

Yea really high on corners at that pick.  Who knows what direction we'll go, but I'm thinking it has to be O-Line, Corner, or WR.  I think we'll sign a veteran LT in free agency and draft a LT in the later rounds to develop.  Bell can stay as the backup RT.

Yes I totally agree! That is a pretty darn good list of 25s in RD1. However, we could trade back but I doubt it, going BPA.

    • I still never understand the back the team no matter what the results have been. There is no doubt in my mind that if the huddle had run the drafts the past 7 years, we would have a much better team right now and likely challenged for our division the past few years. The drafts have been awful, period and there’s probably 10 consensus guys we were right on that would all have been improvements on the current roster.
