How Effective Will Godfrey Be?

If returns early in the season with a cast on his post-surgical hand? For some of us older guys, (I shutter )when I remember Doug Evans from the late 90s playing with a big-a$$ cast on his hand and it really affected his tackling abilites. Hopefully my concern is not warranted.:frown:

Didn't Gamble play with a cast or a wrap on his hand a couple of years ago? It seemed he was always in position to make the interception, but couldn't with his hand wrapped.

Godfrey has some work to do in regards to his tackling. A broken hand sure isn't going to help the situation. I really have a feeling Teal is going to start at his position.

well considering Godfrey plays like a$$ when 100%.......I say it really won't matter. Seriously, if you had to evalute the kid and he wasn't a Panther, the Godfrey talk would be a lot different around here. I think Godfrey has some talent....but Fox's defense doesn't play to the strength's of his players. Godfrey shouldn't be a S in this defense. Fox should not have drafted him to convert him.

on a related note, Hawk fans are reporting Lucas has looked strong and is the #1 CB now. I expect a decent season from Lucas this year in a defense that suits him.

    • Just had Thanksgiving meal with a couple dozen family and friends. I lucked out and got one of the smoked turkey legs. Stuffing, mashed taters and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, kale, smoked ham, chicken and rice, corn, lima beans, cranberry sauce, and great people. My brother got his guitar out and we got to singing. Lots of actual conversations with people I hardly  ever get to see, haven't seen in a while, or who I never met before. Just a great moment to remember.
    • 3-8 would be a higher win percentage than 3-9
    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
