What does Gettleman do about Cam

Its a hard question to answer.  As fans we really don't know all of the variables.

How much is Cam really asking for?  It is easy to sit back and say "I would sign him to a fair contract" but in reality Cam might be determined to be the highest paid QB in the league.  DG might be willing to sign him for 5yr/$90m but not 6yr/$130m.

Cam might want a tremendous amount of guaranteed money.  Should DG just hand him a blank check?

What is DG decides his price is to high?  What could we actually get for Cam in a trade?

If we could trade Cam for 3 first round picks and 2 seconds would your answer be different then if we could only get 1 first round pick and 2 seconds?

Very incitful.... I'm glad we have posters like you that have a superior acumen for NFL talent and don't mind letting us know our QB is just as bad as he is good for our offense. Sure we are the first team to win back to back NFC South Division titles.....and yes we have gone to the playoffs in consecutive seasons for the first time in the history of the franchise but aside from all that.....Cam Sucks. Gotcha!!

Move to Cleveland you Cam haters..............

If I had to guess Cam will be the highest paid QB in the NFL for some period of time, preferably before Wilson becomes the highest paid QB in the NFL. He may not be a Top 5 QB but he's probably top 10, he's young, he's still got room to improve, and he's the face of our Franchise. You don't let him get close to free agency.

that's nonsensical you don't make a top ten QB the highest paid when he is not top 5. Our offer has to be within our budget that won't prevent us from getting other top players or  this whole idea of surrounding Cam with talent is just a pipe dream.

I'd like to get a real LT and some more weapons and a real OC and see how Cam does before giving him a huge contract.  I have worries about him and his accuracy.  His deep ball has regressed a ton since his rookie year in accuracy.  He has trouble hitting receivers in stride so YAC are very low.   He lacks the touch for fades and whatnot and always has to throw a bullet.  Maybe some coaching could correct this but we're going into the 5th year of his career.

That being said, the franchise may feel that we won't draft anyone better probably and we are basically stuck having to pay him, regardless.

I agree but that seems to be the way the NFL is set up these days.  Cam isn't taking a Dalton or Kapernick contract, he's going to want long term security and viable top 5-10 talent QBs are so hard to find that someone is going to give it to him.  We can go on the hunt for another QB but I personally don't want to take the risk as QBs like that don't grow on trees.

DG doesn't have to do anything about Cam now.

He is under contract next season, and can be franchised for 2 after that.

That said, DG will offer Cam a good, but not great contract.  He should be paid like the QB he is.

P.S. How many teams have won the Super Bowl with one of those "Max QB deals"?

Interesting article highest paid winner was Eli at $14 million. Highest paid participant and only player higher paid than Eli was Peyton at $23 million. Most winner were under $10 million.

Do people already forget our QB follies before Cam?

Cam's getting paid, like he should.

Look at the QB's in the final four. They are all getting paid handsomely or about to. Wilson's situation is a rarity, and he's getting mega paid shortly.

The cap has increased significantly lately to help offset these QB prices. Half the QB's in the league are getting paid handsomely already it seems.

We already saw a massive improvement thanks to Norwell and Remmers stepping up. Its time to add another legitimate WR, Benji needs help.
