So what does Gettleman do with Cam?

I don't get why so many people on here compare Cam to Dalton or want Cam traded

Why do you guys hate winning? Is it a fear more than a hatred?

Well the truth is that there is a certain sect here that never wanted, or liked, or thought Newton would be any good.

Most of those folks have left the board, silently root for the Panthers to fail, maintaining their accounts and come out of the woodwork when we lose. That's why you see a bunch of posters you haven't seen in weeks suddenly flood the board.

If you ask any of them prior to drafting Newton could Newton have done what he has done, given what he has been given, and they would say that Newton would be a backup by now.

Compare how active the Observer is after a Panther's victory than when there is a lost.

Whoever is saying Cam has help should go jump off a cliff. You definitely won't find anybody in the national media saying that. Deion just ripped the talent around cam last night. The biggest help that is missing is an offensive coordinator. Notice nobody requesting to interview Mike Shula

I have said this a 100 times. Shula is not our biggest problem. But I am not sure one top 25 college program sans LSU (because Miles is crazy) would hire Shula for the same position. Not one top program.

But once again. I feel as though Shula is not our biggest problem...he needs to be replaced, but we can win with Shula.

I see what you did there.

Quoting the same article it says "freed up 15 million in cap space for 13 and 14."

His new cap number from those years goes up by 1 million per year from his base salary climbing back up.

Still saved them 15 million in cap space, if the article is read completely.

Ice up son,..

Haha

Lord we have some homers on this board. Right now until Cam becomes more consistent you cant even compare him to Luck or Wilson.

Kap, Dalton, ok sure.

How about instead of 'homers' look at the comparison of the ownership, front office, coaching staffs, free agent and draft moves of the three organizations

You all pick out the QBs and go. 'see there is our problem right there. Get rid of Newton and all our problems will be fixed.'

Carolina has sucked it time and time again in the QB arena. do you know how many times Fox/hurney passed on QBs?

The Panthers have failed many times in their handling of cap situations, player evaluations, and coaching decisions and yet all of our woes are laid at the feet of Cam Newton. From the infamous Sean Gilbert fiasco to the handling of Steve smith to trying to make people believe that Byron bell and Nate Chandler are legitimate tackles in the NFL

Forgive my rant but I have followed this team for 20 years and they still can't do the most obvious things and the fan base continues to point to one player when it's an organizational issue. Will Gettleman fix it, who knows but if does not force a change in offensive staff and special teams staff, there is the answer.

Russell has peaked, huh? After what, 3 seasons? Really?

Can you name me a QB in the NFL whom you know to operate outside his team's philosophy and system?

Last time I checked, the Colts have won 11 regular season games in each of the last 3 seasons and have won 3 of 4 playoff games in those same 3 seasons since drafting Luck.

Didnt read my post. Yes Russell has peaked, I havent seen him grow at all.

And for Luck, I said hes a better passer and his organization is more stable with better coaches by far.

Cam is a winner more than Luck simply because he won the Juco, Heisman, BCS, and first pick.

Then he set 13 records as a rookie. The 4000 thing was like the 4 minute mile. No one believed it was possible until it was done. Now its the norm.

Cam has had far less talented coaches, a huge carousel of players on the offensive line, worst OC ever statistically, etc etc etc.

I also said Russell isnt in the same category as Luck or Cam no matter what the faces of the marketing machine want.

The dude is good, but only plays within his system.

Name a quarterback that can? CAM NEWTON. 4 different systems and OCs since college.

Any more questions I can instruct you on?

Thanks for debating.

Cam is the best QB in Panthers history.  However, he is not an elite QB.....yet.  With the right talent around him, I think he has the potential to be elite, but he is still too inconsistent at this point.  Also, his style of play is very aggressive and as he ages I think he could be prone to more injuries.  When he runs, he takes a pounding because he runs like a RB and not like a sliding QB.

With the salary cap issues the Panthers have experienced, I just don't think they are going to lock Cam up to a huge Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, Jay Cutler type contract.  Not sure how Cam is going to react to this....it will be interesting to see.

Don't see it. We fumbled twice off the read option against Seattle this year. A turnover because Shula rely on cam too much as a runner in the running game. And he doesn't find 1 on 1 matchups against secondaries. When Seattle backup CB came in we only attacked him once. The game was over by time the Panthers finally threw deep on him to KB for a TD. Shula in Tampa, they were terrible in the redzone and we struggle with it as well. If Cam didn't start being involved more in offense during our win streak, I dont see us finishing the way we did
