I look for a deal in the style of the one Kaepernick got.

While it may not be all his fault, Newton is too inconsistent right now to break the bank on him.

 

I don't see him taking that kind of deal at all. If he laughs at it and they franchise tag him in 2016 and 2017, plus the option in 2015. He's already set to make 15 million guaranteed in 2015, 18 million in 2016, 21.6 million in 2017 and all of it's guaranteed.  That puts him in the top 7 NFL qb's over those three seasons and he knows that he'll get tagged those two years unless he completely falls off. 

 

 

So He's already got that coming to him, it's going to take more then that to sign him long term. Still looking at 19 million a season starting point.
