So what does Gettleman do with Cam?

Why shouldn't Cam get endorsement deals? And if JR can make it happen, perfect way to keep him happy.

Yes, Newton can get endorsements, but not with any organization that the team owner is part of because the League would see this as circumventing the cap and penalize the team.

NFL lawyers know a thing or two about how this stuff works.

Really? Because I'm pretty confident Delhomme and others have had Bojangles endorsements.

Why wouldn't it work?

Because endorsement deals from individual companies don't reach into the 10's of millions. A 60 million dollar endorsement from fuging Bojangles, a regional chain, would be highly suspicious and deeply investigated by the league.

HAHAHAHAHAH, Delhomme made around 1 million per year from ALL his endorsements during his prime.

Now the question is, can the 29-year-old turn an unlikely Super Bowl run into $1 million in endorsement and marketing deals like Warner was able to do?

[....]

"Companies can't market a guy on a team that goes 3-13," said Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, one of a handful of NFL players in the league who earned more than $1 million in endorsements this season. "Individual success comes from team success, and that's the only way (endorsement deals) come about. With the success that we've had through my career at Philadelphia, individual players receive attention in an environment like that."

But for those who want to enter the elite club, the Super Bowl is the biggest stage, the largest launching pad for players to break through.

"What (parity) does is help spread the wealth," said Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety John Lynch, who scored a deal with Campbell's Chunky Soup after his Buccaneers won the Super Bowl last year. "Jake Delhomme may be pushing something next year, and I think that's good for the league."

"We've had so much interest in Jake," said Rob Lefko of Priority Sports, which represents both Delhomme and Warner. "Before this year, some of these people didn't even know who Jake was."

Now, if the Panthers win the Super Bowl, Lefko says that "if Jake wants to take advantage of the opportunities out there, we'll have no problem reaching seven figures."

Delhomme already has a shoe deal with Nike, he's booked a couple of speeches at more than $10,000 a pop, he's signed a local endorsement deal with Bojangles, and -- like Warner who had Warner's Crunch Time Cereal -- Delhomme fans can soon pour milk over their Jake's Flakes.

He'll appear later this week in USA Today with a milk mustache for the California Milk Processor Board's "Got Milk?" campaign, and a Super Bowl win will put him back in the paper with a milk mustache. If the Panthers win, Delhomme has signed a contingency contract that will enable him to earn some cash by telling the world, "I'm Going to Disneyworld!"

Just stop now, before you make yourself look like more of an idiot. (though this might be hard to do at this point.)

Bojangles is a private company and thus doesn't have to disclose how much it pays Cam, so yeah.

Richardson didn't buy into Bojangles till 2007.  Delhomme already had a set contract with us by then.

But lets suppose Cam gets a Bojangles endorsement.  How much do you think a Bojangles endorsement actually pays?

Enough to make up for several million worth of cap?  Doubt it.

This whole notion is stupid.  It's not gonna happen.

If JR gives Bojangles $60 million and says "Give this to Cam in an endorsement deal" it is perfectly legal and a sly way to circumvent the cap.

Look, sometimes creativity work. Hell, Carolina was founded upon creativity. The Panthers were the first team to introduce PSLs. This is another avenue that can be explored.

How many times must it be said before you get it. It can't happen and if it did the league would fine the Panthers!

Sign him. If you think he is inconsistent you aren't likely to ever find a QB you like at 25 the rest of your lives. Deal with it.

This is a franchise QB that is only going to get better. Lock him down.

To dangle him in the wind and string him along is the dumbest thing I've read.

Even dumber than the Bojangles super secret under the table money

And the League would levy cap penalties and take away draft picks.

Again, not gonna happen, nor should it.

There is no rule that says it can't happen and it is certainly more legal than paying him under the table.

Another option is Cam could start a charity and the Panthers could donate into it and he could take money from there, but while not illegal that would be frowned upon if it ever leaked out.
