Peyton Manning playoff record and stats by age 27

By the time Peyton Manning was 27 years old he had been in the league as a starter for 6 seasons and made the playoffs 3 times.  Here were his playoff stats and record by that stage in his career

0-3

Comp percentage 47.6%

TDs:  1

INTs:  2

PPG: 11 (16, 19, and 0)

Let Cam grow and learn and get more experience.  Quit acting like what he is now is what he will always be.  Peyton by the time he was 27 and a 6 year starter was still struggling at times and learning, especially in the playoffs.  Why do some of you guys act like Cam should be better than him at this stage??

Its sad to see everyone try to burn Cam. His first road playoff game, against the defending champs and #1 defense, throwing to 3 rookies and being protected by 3 rookies, and getting crucified for making a couple bad throws/reads? Funny how when Rodgers and Peyton looked useless against this defense it was "just a bad game" but in Cam's case its because hes not a great QB and he'll never be a pure passer

Well...  I wouldn't even compare Peyton to Cam's situation..          Peyton had Edgerrin James averaging around 1200-1500 total yards a season back then.. plus Harrison and Wayne.

Colts were great at keeping quality talent surrounding Peyton.

Panthers give Cam an aging,  injury prone Double Trouble,  1 rookie #1 WR... two rookie guards,  the worst LT in the NFL,  a RT that no other team wanted  and the almighty Cotchery.

I was impressed by Cam today. You saw him handle some difficult things well today. Our offensive personnel is a station wagon trying to keep up with a Ferrari. Our GPS hasn't been updated since 1999.

Think about it. With the game on the line, in the redzone, Cam's first read was Brenton Bersin. That should get people fired.

None of his turnovers stood out to me as boneheaded, all of them were small mistakes that were punished mercilessly.

can we not compare cam to every single quarterback. it gets old

This wasn't meant to be so much a comparison as it is a statement about the development of QBs and their progressions to becoming better QBs.

The only point is that Manning was a better QB in his 30's than he was his first 6 years in the league (as is true for most QBs).  There is no reason to believe that Cam will be any different.

So the hyper reaction by some to every bad game, or playoff failures and successes, is dumb at this stage and we shouldn't always dwell on the week to week happenings of a 25 year old QB.

The guy's future is incredibly bright, and therefore so is the future of this franchise

Great thread and I totally agree. People want to define Cam so early as a failure or will never get better. It's ridiculous. QB's need time to grow, and this offense is hardly even close to being a legit offense that people can say that Cam is holding it back or something.

excellent thread and pretty much sums up the sentiment that SHOULD be floating around this board. we've got flaws to correct and a ways to go, but if some of you slobber-chinned knuckle-dragging screaming banshees around here had it your way peyton manning would've been "not the answer" because reasons and cut in 2002.

let's focus on hopefully getting in a coaching staff that won't draw up third-down passes to branson barton as the surefire game-winner.
