Cam Newton

We, as a fan base, need to come to grips with what we have in Cam.

An extremely gifted and athletic QB who has potential to be top ten, but will more than likely always find himself in the 10-20 range.

Are we going to win playoff games with him as our QB? Yes.

Are we going to win a Super Bowl with him as our QB? Maybe

Are we going to go 7-9 with him as our QB? Yes

He's wildly inconsistent on two aspects of his game that can't be coached: instinct and touch. I'm not sure he will ever fix them. If he figures out a way, he could be an all timer. If he doesn't, we will continue to see performances like this one.

But DA has played so exceptionally well he deserves a strong look. First DA looks good in training camp and all I hear is "its only training camp!" Then he looks good in pre season and all I hear is "its just pre season!" Then he plays two regular season games and looks like Peyton Manning, and all I hear is "but its teh Bucz!!"

DA has done enough to atleast warrant some cnsideration about rolling with him. He is just such a great passer from the pocket. Why on earth will you handicap your salary cap by signing Cam to a huge mega contract when a guy like DA can possibly do better for fraction of the cost.

What would you rather have, spend all your money on Cam and as a result have a bad team around him, or roll with DA and use that money for a elite WR and O line pieces?

BTW, you keep talking about what will the Panthers do when we have to pay Newton, and the rest of the team will crumble and there will be no money for an OL...

Please explain why the Panther's despite Newton being on a Rookie deal cannot surround him with talent better than Bersin, and his number one WR being a rookie?

his luck will run out one day. there is no way he can sustain this over a long period of time. he'll accidentally run over a dog or something and karma will come crashing down.

Come man. Just stop. Wilson is not lucky. He is good. He understands the coverage and lofts the ball understanding that the safety has no chance of making a play on the ball.

He has been good everywhere he has been.

The sad thing about it is that if that was Luck the Huddle would be ready to put him in the HOF.

He's not as bad as the naysayers say, and not as good as the Cam jockeys say.  He's a middle of the road QB:  great talent that is held back by inconsistency.

He deserves top-15 QB money and that's it.

You, sir, get it.

This offseason needs to finally fix the fact that this offense demands perfection just to f#cking compete.

And THERE is the problem with the homers!

First off, I'm not a hater but this back and forth this board does with our franchise QB needs to stop!

Look, an elite QB can handle an offense that isn't perfect most of the time. Above average QBs, however, will struggle from time to time. So, you saying that we need a perfect offense in order for Cam to shine speaks volumes.

Cam is our QB. Period. He's about the 11th best QB in the league in my eyes (Brady, Flacco, Roethlisberger, Luck, Manning, Rivers, Romo, Rodgers, Brees, Wilson). He can win it all, yes. But he's no "a Brady", "a Rodgers", or "a Manning". He won't give the Panthers a dynasty because no team has a perfect offense and no team ever will have a perfect offense.

I'm glad you love Cam with all your heart. I like him too. He's half Greek god, half machine. I'm glad you think his ceiling is as high as any QB in the history of the league. I'm glad I can see the same faults that surround him that you can see. I'm glad we see that those faults hurt his game tons and make him look worse than he actually is.

But I wish you homers would see that Cam is not an elite QB. Because he's simply not.

No more debating from me on this ever again I hope. This topic has been going on the entire season. It's beyond old.

Cam is a good player. Not great.

He's a less-than average thrower with bad decision making. His legs are what makes him special.

Combined with a big arm, he has all the talent in the world. But he has terrible balance and throwing mechanics on his throws. Add in his bad decision making, and all that talent goes to waste.

Seattle did exactly what they needed to do to win. Make Cam a passer.

IMO, he could be an elite QB if he could learn how to be an effective thrower.

Until then, he's gonna be stuck in the middle of the pack.

effective throwing comes with playcalling and WRs man.   especially playcalling.

You,  being a Falcon fan,  and seeing how Ryan did against our defense,  with two all-world WRs,    should be a moral for you not to underestimate the effect of horrible playcalling on a qb.        Falcons cleaned house because of the poor impact their coaches had on their players.

Panthers need an OC that can come up with an offense that doesn't require Cam to be perfect.   Because he will sail some balls...he will make mistakes.   Two or Three sailed balls a game.....should not have as big an impact as they currently do in our system.    Wilson had 2 or 3 dirt balls and 1 or 2 high sails in this game.....in their system though,  those mistakes had little to no impact.

For almost putting up 250 yards passing and completing 64% off his attempts, I'd say this is better than anyone would have thought for playing the great Seattle defense. Sure, Cam should have never thrown that ball to Philly that Sherman picked off, and he should've looked off the safety on the that throw to Dickson (that shouldn't have been the throw anyway...), but overall, I'd say Cam played a heck of a game.

Cam played as well as a resonable person can expect against the LOB with our o-line and wide receivers. We simply aren't talented enough, or well coached enough for that matter. All the other narrative of a QB elevating guys and whatnot is nonsense. Seattle is better coached and more talented. We like to beat our chests like we're on Seattle's level but we aren't. Seattle got enough pressure to force Cam into making passes off balance. They also outmuscled our receivers on routes leading to those interceptions.

Cam did miss plays. He defiantly wasn't perfect, but if he didn't take risks we wouldn't have moved the ball down field as much as we did. We would have been blown out in the first quarter instead of the fourth.
