Cam Newton

I don't know what it is with you and Luck, but you are quite the fan apparently.

I was analyzing talent--you think that is being a fan?  Therein lies the reason you never see other opinions.  You think you have to be a fan to recognize quality players.  I mention that Cam has issues, you scream "blasphemy!!", even though most national experts--and Cam himself--admit these mistakes.

And yes, I believe that Aaron Rodgers made Jordy Nelson great.  Do you think you would even know his name if he were a Jag?

I am a panther fan, but I enjoy analyzing the team objectively.  If you want foam fingers and blood brother ceremonies, you are not getting that from me.

Where have I screamed "blasphemy" about Newton having to work on some things? Where have I even said he doesn't have things to work on? I've told you before, you are clearly a very smart man, and I've got nothing against you, but you are borderline hopeless on this subject.

Obviously Aaron Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, but talent helps talent, Nelson is very good too.

You don't have to poo on one player who is playing at a high level in order to make the other look even better.

Blood brother ceremonies? What? You got a bottle over there buddy? How about you share some of that with the rest of us.

Indy is an organization who took a pretty damn different approach to their roster when they drafted Luck. I've been over this before with you, but you ran off and never bothered responding back. The Colts began building around Andrew from day one, especially in the draft.

You don't actually believe that bolded statement do you?

Colts know how to build around a franchise qb. They know the right coaches to get,  they know how to stock the shelves with weapons.          You knew the Colts knew what it takes,  when they had a very young Peyton Manning, all those years ago,  and even though he had Harrison,  they still used 1st round picks to get him Edgerrin James, Reggie Wayne,  Dallas Clark.

So when Luck was drafted, ,  everyone knew the Colts were going to go all in with him.

All the Cam has no "o-line, no weapons, no coaches!!!!" needs to stop. Smitty leaves, becomes a #1 in Balt. Lafell balls out in NE after we critiqued him for so many years. The QB makes the players better.

You can blame the receivers for dropping passes, not coming back to the ball, but you must blame Cam for the countless overthrows, bad reads, and decision-making. Indubitably, every time Cam progresses, he regresses very quickly. I'll give Cam top 15, not top 10 rating.

I see Cam as a Stafford-esque quarterback. Strong arm, poor decision-making, just with better mobility.

Give Stafford Megatron, Tate, and decent RBs, and he still can't win a playoff game.

I haven't lost hope in our QB yet, as I do agree must retain him for the value he provides this franchise. However, potential and probability of reaching that potential are two distinctly different things that separate the great from the middle-of-the pack.

I'll stay hopeful, but I won't expect a massive transformation regarding his mechanics or his decision-making abilities. All I can hope for is that he's capable enough to get us there.

As others said, he's no Luck, Brady, or Manning. However, if Eli can win a Superbowl, I have faith that Cam has the potential to as well.

As a QB he's a Top-15 type but his athleticism and legs give him a huge edge.  I still take him over the likes of Kaepernick, Tannehill, Cutler, Alex Smith, etc.

What gets to me is his decision making (wanting to do too much), his downfield passing (I don't think a Cruz, Cobb, T-Williams type would work well with him honestly), and fundamentals (footwork).   It's in no way a game breaker for me but he's going into his 5th season next year already.

This team needs to be better built around him and we need WRs that fit his game.  My question is what type of WRs are those?   ...And at the same time, I expect a big improvement in his game next season.

He's proven he can lead comeback victories, win a playoff game, and really take things over for the team.  The best way I can put it: He needs to focus and fine tune his game.  Shula and Rivera aren't going anywhere this offseason.  Cam isn't either.

Cam is not a middle-of-the-road QB. You can not convince me of that. And yes he does need more, different weapons. And yes he does need a better play caller. But doesn't every other successful QB, sans Peyton since he basically calls his own plays.

Who is the big playmaker/deep threat on the offense? This team is more likely to get a 50 yard play from a RB as it is to get a 50 yard play from a WR. The biggest deep threat Cam has ever had was a 30+ year old 5'9" WR, and he didn't even have him this season. Name me another QB in the league in that situation right now - maybe ever.

The young man has to make 90% of his passes into tight coverage, to receivers that refuse to fight for the ball - except for KB and Olsen. Dickson is horrible. If nothing else, Brandon Williams is a stronger blocker and a tougher competitor. I would love to see him get more snaps.

I just watched Cam Newton stiff arm (to the ground) one of the hardest hitting FS in the NFL, and then throw a laser to the sideline on a deep out in tight coverage. No other QB can do that. He ain't Brady, Manning consistency yet. But to say he's an average QB is completely asinine, to put it mildly.

It ironic how there are so many Panthers fans that are so critical of Cam when he had a identical game as Andrew Luck. Except Cam went against the best defense and home field advantage in the league. And no, im not putting down Luck. He's great. But him and Cam both gamble on plays that results in turnovers. Both go through streaks of inaccurate passing. Both have been great QBs.

Cam was not his best... but I actually credit that to Seattles Defense. This is what they do to everybody.

It was really the best test to gauge where we are as a team. They're the defending Super Bowl champs. We've got places to make some adjustments... and get our young guys developed.

Good for Dave Gettleman to see... if he's a talent evaluator... this is another step in getting us to to compete.

lol I complimented Cam, and rookie troll still gives me the kid finger. Troll game is weak

No trolling here....Picture says it all....same as anyone saying "fug U"....gets the same message out. If I didn't get anyone's sarcasm about Cam ...then I offer my apology. No damn rookie here.

But get this straight, I am a native, saw this team born from inception, and am a original PSL Holder. And for anyone that says Cam has to go, is no good, cannot get the job done...is an illogical idiot. UNLESS you can tell me WHO and HOW are you gonna replace him with a better quarterback and keep us without going backwards.

I'll listen, I got plenty of time until training camp. Just give me intelligent conversation, that's all.

All I said was that Cam deserves more than top-15 money and the team would be stupid to replace him. I think that's the polar opposite of saying he has to go, is no good, etc.

Lucks game was so similar to cams. They both even had "punts" on third down

Please accept my apologies 3rd Degree...... I guess I had 1 too many Stella's during the game. I went back and re-read your post and I was wrong for giving my finger salute. Your post was DEAD on. Cam will be franchised for 1 year and then will be given a contract after that. Our rebuilding is now in it's second year and will continue ( as I sit and pray, kiss the ground and ask the Lord Jesus Christ...PLEASE).
