Seahawks to make Russell Wilson highest-paid QB

First of all, you are forgetting that 3rd and 20 that Dallas converted that was the bigger part of the game,

and second of all, seriously? You are really pointing out one game in the regular season as an arguing point?? Without much looking, i'm sure I can find at LEAST one game that Cam threw away, or didn't make plays when he needed to. Come on.

I'm sure you can, too. Our offense is more often in a position where Cam has to make a play. There is a larger sample size for Cam. We don't have nearly as many "trust the defense to hold" moments.

I was referring to last minute drives while down by more than a FG, but a TD would win. I can only think of three times with RW: Indy last year (threw an interception), Dallas this year (threw an interception) and Denver this year (scored in OT).

haha I hear you.... If we HAD to lose to anyone, I would prefer it to be the Panthers...

But, i'm a greedy bastard... Two superbowls sound fantastic ;)

Our first SB berth was just bizarre....it never really registered that it was happening.

And if it makes you feel any better, I was totally for Seattle in Super Fix XL.

Never in my life have I seen a pregame opening so very much favor one team over the other.

that, and Fixburgh fans tend to be despicable sons of bitches, so it wasn't much of a jump.

I can totally see how non-seahawk fans will laugh it up at this deal and think he's just a game manager. But watching every game in this guys career I think much differently. Without Russell Wilson, we would be a 9-11 win team at the most, and there is no way in hell we win a super bowl last year. If you really took the time to break down his film, it's easy to see he is much more than a game manager... Not saying he is the best QB in the league, but he's up there. He is worth a LOT more than Kaep, and his contract will show that.

Ignore the Huddle. They think that Luck is God personified, and can't figure out why an offense that has been ignored for the better part of a decade isn't elite.

The only QBs working with less talent than Wilson on offense is:

Jets

Rams

Possibly the Panthers

The passing blocking of Wilson's OL is enough to make him worth every bit of a 100 million dollar QB.

edit: maybe the Vikings too.

I agree.  WIlson is a very smart QB who is always two moves ahead of the defense.  He may lack the athleticism Cam Newton has, but he gets a lot out of the offense.  He does not have stellar WRs and his line is average to good, but he makes plays when he needs them.

He needs a strong run game and a defense.  In that regard, he is a game manager.  However, he can strike at any time.  He is conservative in his play because that is the system.  He had to throw the ball a lot at NC State, and was very effective.

Wilson is also consistent in his play.  He makes others around him better.  If Flacco, Kaepernick (what a joke) and Dalton were worth what they got paid, Wilson deserves a big payday.

You haven't watched enough Seahawk games to say that. Russell runs for his life every play, we constantly miss assignments. We only have one starter that has lasted all season.

He doesn't run for his life. He runs out of the pocket so he can see downfield.

Obviously they were outmatched in the super bowl, but have you watched any game outside of that??? No way we win the NFC Championship without him, let alone get homefield to put ourselves in that postition

One of the best playoff games I ever seen from a QB was two years ago when Wilson played the Falcons in ATL.

Wilson had the game won but the defense blew it. Wilson, off the top of my head, also was responsible for your victory against the Broncos this year, and would have beaten the Rams in St. Louis if Fisher didn't call that fake punt.

Wilson also had a 300 yard passing, 100 rushing game this year, and has been close to getting that on a number of other occasions. And I believe he owns the record for QB rating to begin a career, and tied Peyton's TD PASSING record his rookie season.

Like I said, ignore the ignorance of the Huddle.

I agree with everything minus the line comment. Maybe if we actually had our starters, we could be an average line. But we have had only one starter that has survived the season, can't stay healthy and it's been quite terrible this season.

Because clearly you have watched more Seahawk games than me to know that we don't protect Russell for poo. If we had a QB that was a non athletic pocket passer, we would be in a world of hurt.

i don't get it. he won a super bowl. why is everyone so confused about this. plus they are rewarding him because he has been criminally underpaid due to where he was drafted. if cam wins the Panthers a super bowl I would be more than happy to give a blank check, and I bet a majority of other fan bases would laugh at the Panthers. same thing with Joe Flacco. the dude won a super bowl he can have whatever he wants. it is the Kaeprnick and Dalton contracts I don't agree with. Russell Wilson, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethilisberger, Eli Manning, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers deserve anything they want.

Flacco won them that Super Bowl. Russel Wilson just happened to be on the team. There's a big difference

When your division consists of two blitz happy 3-4 teams and the best D-line in football, yes, your offensive line will look like ass.

but when you play the eagles, and they get 20% of their season sacks in one game against you, there's no doubt

Anybody who thinks Wilson has even an average OL or thinks Wilson runs out of perfect or almost-perfect pockets need to go back and watch the Hawks vs. the Cardinals (any game) from this year. Against other NFL teams they are not much better.

For as crappy as Carolina's passing blocking can be at times...I have never seen an OL literally get pushed back into the QB before the ball even gets to a chance to be snapped back to the QB.

The Seahawks OL, when it comes to pass blocking, is beyond the worst (might be the worst ever) in the NFL.

The Panthers should have zero problems getting pressure of Wilson.

    • Start with Bryce, this is like his rookie year. The 1st 2 games proved her was wired wrong and it looks like (we hope) he needed a time out to reset and be the player that was drafted. He's still about a year or more away from being a top 15 QB, if the Panther give him another playmaker or 2 (a top WR and a decent TE) and maintain that line. Canales deserves credit as playing that card correctly to motivate (or refocus) his QB for one last shot to decide his and the Panthers immediate future. As a Panther fans we should hope he keeps improving as we invested so much to get him. CJ Stroud will never have a season like he had, even if he stays a top 10 QB. He's got great character so I'm rooting for Bryce to continue on his positive journey. Canales is playing the week to week thing with bryce perfectly. Nothings guaranteed, earn it weekly which builds consistency and consistency is greatness.  Keep the O-line. They've got to extend Brady C, along with Mayes that have a real good 7. Great job Morgan starting with the big guys upfront.  I really hope they draft a DE or OLB in the 1st round. Getting Brown back with A Robinson and what DJ has shown that we can have a decent D-line. Need a CB in the early rounds/ or a time FA to go with Horn.  The future as to next year being good enough to challenge for the division is within reach. Just show progress (win or lose) every week. Kudos to Dan Morgan. Plays GM like a LB. Tackle the problem and move on, don't just hope it works out. Find guys with your playing mentality and work closely with your HC to share a vision. Teamwork starts at the top and flows down.
    • Since we play the Panthers today and tmrw, we will have one gigantic double thread for both games. Today’s game is at 3pm and tmrw is 7pm.    After beating the Rangers and sending the those yankee bastards back to Cary, we get the Champs in the house.  Clean up the defense, no more lazy clears, and score baby score.  LFG CANES!
