I already explained why this deal makes sense for the Seahawks, we have the cap room to do it, and he is a well above average QB. Why have uncertainty at that position when you have the luxury of locking it up long term? It's proven we can win with him, and before him when we had uncertainty at that position even with Lynch and a good defense. We were a 7-9 team. I don't understand why people are so confused about this when Kaepernick made the contract he did.

This will be the beginning of the end for the Seahawks. Spending 1/7th of your salary cap on one players is not a formula for success. Tom Brady is the only one that realizes a big contract won't help him win.

The core of your offense has been your rush attack (Lynch). That core has allowed Seattle to play a certain style of football....

I don't agree with the thought you are about to fall off the map.....but that is a big change coming

I think no one should. A 20m dollar QB has never won the Super Bowl. Sure, pay the man but you cut off 3m in salary, that's a quality starter at another position. Or three quality role players.

 

The cap is going up and 20m will become the norm but the strength of Seattle is the stacked roster, not the QB.

Hey, maybe the Seahawks will be fortunate enough to be built like the Panthers someday, especially at Quarterback. They are so much more efficient and productive than the Hawks.

I never talked about Wilson's wins... Wins alone are a bad stand... but I can easily name at least 2-3 games a season where our defense let the Seahawks down, and Wilson won it. It's a complementary pairing, and it's worth it to pay it. I never once downplayed our defense, if we didn't lock up our defensive core, I would be worried about this. But we already have it locked down, so i'm not.

Bring up all the petty context and excuses you want but Wilson has played historically well and accomplished plenty for the Seahawks. He's a better QB than Newton or Luck too. Having said that I hope he turns the ball over 8 times tonight. Go Panthers.

Wilson is line to take up 20m extra in cap space. You are going to lose more than Lynch to make that happen.
