Panthers have no shot against the Legion of Boom

Yes I see our offense scoring more than 13 points on several teams starting form the 20 for most of the game.

A huge majority of our points, especially during the win streak, have came from our defense either giving us good field position off of a turnover, or scoring off of a turnover.  Just look at the time when our defense was utter crap.  When they don't play well, we don't score much at all.  The average is like 19 PPG, and I'm being generous to include the 37 we scored against Cincinnati.  Our defense didn't play well in that game either.  Take that out and we averaged about 14.5 PPG.  Then during the win streak, when our defense was playing lights out, it suddenly jumps to 27+ PPG.  Just look at all of the short fields we got in those games, or defensive points.  Sure, our offense can move the ball between the 20's pretty well.  Doesn't matter much if you're only getting 3 points per visit to the red zone though, and that's what our offense has been doing a majority of the time.

Including the Cincinnati game is not being generous, it's including a game we played. 19 ppg is more than 13. 27 ppg is more than 13. I can see our team scoring more than 13 against some of the teams in the NFL even without a great defensive performance. Now the teams I have in mind suck, but that is what I had in mind with my original statement.

"In the final six games, all wins, the Legion of Boom defense gave up 3, 3, 14, 7, 6 and 6 points. Who’d they play in that span? The Niners twice, the Cardinals twice (once with Drew Stanton at QB), the Eagles and Rams."

The Rams were 21st in points scored this season and then the 49ers and Cardinals  who made up four of those games ranked 24th and 25th and both were much worse the second half of the season when they played.  Shutting down the Eagles was impressive and they are a great defense, but acting like that is some sort of gauntlet of offensive juggernauts is laughable.  I love the "once with Drew Stanton at QB" comment...so what?

Shutting down the Saints and Eagles offenses on the road was much more impressive that shutting down five of those six teams.

Well... you said you saw our offense scoring more than 13.  Now you say our team, which would be the correct way to put it, scoring more than 13 against some teams that suck.  We're not talking about teams that suck though.  We're talking about the best defense in the NFL, in their house.  I can see our team scoring more than 13 against any team in the NFL, because of our defense... not our offense.  For that same reason, I can see the Seahawks team, scoring 27 on our team.  It's not their offense that worries me so much.  It's going in there with our pedestrian offense, that has to deal with that unrelenting noise the whole time they're on the field, and hoping they can maintain enough composure to move the ball, and not turn it over, much less score TD's(which we haven't been successful at all year without help from our defense).

Not Seattle. I don't think you were reading carefully.

We've played some of the worst defenses in the league this season, and only put up anywhere from 10 - 20 points against them.  I could go back and find out exactly how many of those 10 - 20 points were the result of our offense driving the length of the field and scoring, without the help of our defense, but I have a strong feeling those results wouldn't be favorable to your argument.

Anyway, the point of the original reply to your quote of "27 points on our defense?" still stands.  It's not their offense putting up 27 on our defense, it's their team... more specifically their defense, that would put them in a position to score that many points.  Same goes for us, but they have a huge advantage at home.

I would feel very comfortable with expecting the Panthers to score more than 13 points on offense against the worst defensive teams in the NFL. Absolutely. Even with only an average performance from our defense. Can you find some game where that didn't happen? Please don't waste your time looking around for that game. I would still have the same expectation. I've watched every game this season, and I'm confident in my expectations.

There is certainly a symbiotic relationship between offense, defense, and special teams. Poor play from our offense and or special teams could result in the Hawks offense scoring more than 27 points. That is not my expectation going into the game. The earlier post about Seattle not scoring 27 points on our defense went too far and didn't include enough information. Here is a better statement: Assuming we play well in all 3 phases, I don't think Seattle will score 27 points. The thing about saying it that way is that it's no fun, and it doesn't allow me to be a boastful fan pumping up his team. It's just too dry and boring, so form time to time I might get a bit carried away and not include every single minute detail.
