The Hornets held invocation at every home game as well. They continued after they moved to the toilet. When the Hornets played in OKC after Katrina, they continued with the invocation in OKC. That is why the Thunder does invocation.

The Panthers likely do it because the Hornets did it. It actually doesn't speak volumes and George Shinn is more the reason than JR.

Bible Belt

It will hopefully change when we get a new owner. It's absolutely insane to ask people to stand and pray.

I have never seen NBA or NFL facilities get owned by opposing fans more consistently and often than here in Charlotte. Those fuggers rub our faces in it to. Saturday was a step in the right direction but next season when Green Bay, Phily, Washington etc come here it will be same old same old.

I used to stand up the entire game at Sanford Stadium. That's the norm at college games in the student section. As a full grown man in his mid 40s, I don't feel inclined to stand up the whole game, and I don't think that standing up is necessary to display enthusiasm or support for one's team.

Damn we have a Stanford grad in our midst?

I'm a die hard fan, but I've seen people literally stand up for the entire game to the displeasure of everyone even remotely close. I understand standing up on third down and after a big play or in a crucial moment, but I wanna sit and I don't wanna see someone's fat ass the entire game.

The Wine and Cheese crowd should die out to a younger fan base with winning, and as alluded to before when the people who grew up with the panthers are finally able to afford to go to more than one game a season.  The large amount of visitor fans will only change with more winning and with time though.

Charlotte is a city that has grown so fast in 20 years that most people come here already as fans of another team. Since the team got here in the mid 90s, it's only just now that people are getting to the age that even if their parents are displaced fans, they grew up as panthers fans. It'll keep getting better. The fan base will get less finicky. As for those closing deals in private boxes, that happens everywhere. Again, as home grown fans get older that will decline somewhat. I think the Panthers will have a very respectable fan base in 10-15 years.

I agree 100% to this. And when we win a Superbowl the culture, the fans, the general public perception. Everything will change for the better. Go Panthers!!!
