The "Ask a Seahawk Fan" Thread

He's pretty big up here unfortunately. But I think he hits the younger demo more than the 30 and up fans.

I think it's probably similar to Raptor fans having Drake as their super fan.

We can't talk much, we have Nelly or some poo as a part owner of the Hornets.

I can't lie.. the moment NFL Network broke the news that Jim Mora was fired.. I was so pumped and completely convinced they were about to back the Brinks truck up and hire Jon Gruden.  Then news broke that Pete Carroll was their guy and I was kind of panicked and going "nooooooo!"

Needless to say.  I was very wrong.   I also was like "WTF?!" when they picked Russell Wilson.  So maybe you guys should be really happy I'm predicting a Seahawks win on Saturday.... hm.

I just thought that by 2009 or 2010, whenever it was, most teams had figured out that coaches who have final say on personnel decisions are never a good thing. You had Tom Flores, we had George Seifert. Both were great under previous circumstances, but having all that control led to disaster.

Not sure if you have these out East.. but up here we have drive-thru coffee stands where the baristas are basically half-naked.  It's lovely.

I miss those. Every once in a while, you could find one with an attractive female. It was rare, but it did happen. I remember one place across the Narrows that had Pasty Tuesdays.

AFAIK, those aren't in NC. I remember one opened a few years back but I think local residents forced it to close. There may be some around that I'm not aware of.

It's awful and you should never move here under any circumstance

(Really though the summers up here make up for the long, gray and rainy winter)

Agreed 100%. I've said on this forum (and on seahawks.net) that Washington is the most beautiful place on the planet on a clear day. The rain is definitely exaggerated (Charlotte averages more rain per year) but that gray sky is seriously no joke. It messed with me more than I ever thought possible.

Honestly not much of a skier .. I've gone a couple times and I think it's too late in the game and a bit too expensive a hobby for my tastes given my severe lack of skill (and balance for that matter).  But Crystal Mountain is really highly regarded and gets a ton of snow.

One of the sno-parks on the Snoqualmie Pass has a huge hill for sledding if skiing isn't your thing. I never had a chance to check out Hurricane Ridge.

I actually live northeast of Rainier, so I would be in the clear for anything really bad..  the brunt of the damage would hit well south of where I'm at.  I'd be more concerned about a big ass earthquake than Rainier.

On a clear day though when you look at that mountain, it's equal parts beautiful and intimidating when you realize that big ass thing is an active volcano.  Haha.

I remember the first time I flew into Seattle. I was aware of Mt. Rainier and had been to mountain ranges of similar height, but I had never seen anything like Rainier. Massive does not even describe it. Flying into SeaTac at dusk, look at the little display saying altitude 11,000 feet or so, look out the window... holy poo wtf is that huge white thing that I'm looking UP at? Finally on the third day being in the area, the sky had cleared just enough to where I could see it from the ground. "beautiful and intimidating" is a perfect description.

Now that the Kings have been sold, what's the plan for the Sonics going forward? Arena? What about NHL expansion? I know Bettman has said he's interested.

The most realistic thing is hoping the NBA expands.  I guess Bill Simmons said today that Hansen is going to bid on the Atlanta Hawks, but I wouldn't hold my breath on the team relocating all the way out here.. the Bucks are also still in play as they have yet to solidify their arena .. and if they don't have that secure by 2016 they are free to be sold and leave basically.  I'm probably leaving out huge details to that story but that's the gist.

Apparently the NHL isn't coming here without an arena, and lawmakers up here don't want to build a new arena without the Sonics in place (dumb, dumb, dumb .. because hockey would be huge up here)

So right now it's a whole lot of nothing.

Yeah Flores was a really bad hire.. that was under the old ownership though, and I really think they wanted Flores in place to coach the team in Los Angeles

Other fun hires in Seahawks lore include Dennis Erickson (sigh) and the aforementioned Jim Mora (SIGH).  Mike Holmgren was a great coach but terrible GM.  Once he stepped down as GM and just focused on coaching.. the team took off and eventually made the Super Bowl - as most Panther fans will recall.

Of course that same GM also left the cupboard ridiculously bare with past their prime veterans and let Steve Hutchinson walk for nothing.. but that's besides the point.

They're so great.  I'll conveniently swing by one when I am taking the dog to the park .. it's like fishing with dynamite.  ;)

Yeah.. I normally stay pretty happy, but after week 3 of not seeing the sun.. one can lose their sanity pretty quick.  I can see why seasonal depression is a thing.  But you're right.. the Summer is perfect and the rain is only pretty frequent from now until.. late March, early April or so.  Even then, this winter has been very mild and drier than usual.

Friend of mine took this shot of Rainier yesterday.

My wife and I went to a place in Post Alley for dinner. I think it was called the pink door. Their cheese assortment appetizer was phenomenal. They had a live band with a husband and wife singing. Don't recall their name but they were solid. As much as I give Seattle poo, it really is a beautiful city. Reminds me of San Francisco with a lot less litter and it doesn't smell like sh!t.

Hey folks!  I want to play, too. :)  Maybe you need a female Seahawks fan for a different perspective...

First, the obligatory trash talk: You're gonna lose on Saturday. You just are. Sorry.

Second, thanks for all the comments about the beauty of the Seattle area. It's pretty great from about May to September but truth be told I'd move to warmer climes if I could. Too many days where it's either raining, just got done raining or is just about to rain. Mount Rainier is only visible about 85 days a year, and that includes when you're right at the foot of it. I've never been to Carolinas at all. Lived in Virginia Beach as a kid but that's as close as I've been.

Re: Bandwagon - Save it because I've been a Seahawks fan since they were an expansion team (and I was a 10 year old). I had season tickets back in the Kingdome days but not since the new stadium was built. It was fun going to Husky Stadium in the interim. Talk about a beautiful view!

Speaking of views...a couple of photos I've taken. The first is from my house - I live about 25 miles North of Seattle and those are some of the Cascade Mountains in the background, but they're way smaller than Mt. Rainier which is about 100 miles away. The second is the Skagit Valley during tulip season. I'd be interested to see some of your scenic Carolina photos, too. Only after you're done insulting my state, my team and me personally, of course. ;)

Seattle is gorgeous. Been there multiple times.

Pulled these images off Google but North Carolina is very underrated imo.

Mountain Region and Coastal Region of our state as well as another city I consider beautiful as well, Charlotte.
