The Seahawks lost Golden Tate and Walter Thurmond among others from the Super Bowl squad last season. Though they appear to have picked up right where they left off, as the bill comes due on more impact FA (Lynch, etc) and most notably the extension for Wilson and the (inevitable) losses of Quinn and/or Bevell from the staff, are you concerned about having a drop off like we just saw the Niners have with Kaepernick?

Not saying they will implode spectacularly like the Niners did (Seattle FO situation is much better) but just a regression in terms of year-to-year performance.

The biggest fear of drop-off I have is when Marshawn Lynch goes. Christine Michael isn't really showing that he's the true heir apparent. Turbin has looked good in the last few games, but he's no Beef Moe.

And yeah, I worried plenty this off season. We lost a bunch of starters and I couldn't help but think of the team like an ecosystem - a delicate balance where each part is integral to the whole. If you start messing with things, it could collapse. I didn't like seeing Tate go, Red Bryant, Chris Clemons, Mike Rob...even Brandon Browner although he didn't play in the run up to, or in, the Super Bowl - I still thought he was superior to Maxwell. Then I worried more when injuries took our top tight end, our only remaining fullback, then Unger, Mebane, Wagner...Kam Chancellor is basically putting off surgery and playing injured. And of course there was the whole Percy Harvin thing, which turned out to be the absolute right thing to do but it was a shock.

But this season has shown that the Seahawks can still dominate. If we get to the SB again, I think we can say that there's a philosophy and a system in place that's bigger than the individuals. I have to have faith that it will keep working even as the roster goes through unavoidable changes. But I really, really hope we get Lynch back next year. And maybe bring in an elite receiver or two.

The Golden Tate thing is definitely something that in hindsight looks pretty bad that we low-balled him the way we did and picked Harvin over him instead.  However, there are lots of rumors of something that went on behind the scenes between Tate and Russell Wilson's wife that led to a divorce this year.. and Percy Harvin punching Tate in the face just days before the Super Bowl.

So if you believe them (I think they're not entirely false) .. I think that also played a big role in why Tate was essentially offered chump change and allowed to walk.

Where the Seahawks and 49ers differ GREATLY is in ownership and stability in the front office.  Pete Carroll and John Schneider are in complete harmony with one another.. the reason why the Jets want to hire Dan Quinn before a GM is because that's what Seattle did when it brought on Carroll.  The idea was that the GM should work alongside the coach.. not the other way around.. and quite frankly I think that makes a ton of sense and am surprised more teams haven't used that philosophy.   The team also usually does pretty well in the draft, particularly in the mid rounds when they find these gems at corner, LB, etc .. have them on really cheap deals and basically build them up into key contributors on the team.  That becomes pivotal as the team locks up Wilson, Wagner, etc

So no.. I don't fear a sudden drop off like the 49ers had, I think this team is poised to be good for a long time.. much like the Patriots.  Now that doesn't mean they will win the Super Bowl every year.. rather be a playoff contender for a large gap of the next several seasons.  The Super Bowl aspirations are probably at their highest right now before free agency and all that comes with it has its impact on the roster down the road.

You forgot the part where we had them deep in there own territory on about a 20yds to get a first on a third down late in the game and somehow Romo pulled it off. A fingertip sideline catch that was a great pass and catch but something that Romo couldn't do again if his life depended on it.

It was a close hard fought game and they had more TOP but that is because Wilson is just more efficient and scored with fewer plays. Romo played well but struggled in long drives aided by Seahawk penalties several times. They were not playing keepaway like San Diego did. They just took a long time to drive and get points. Like I said Wilson just roared down the field and put up points with little effort and wasted clock.

Dallas deserved the win but then so did the Seahawks. It was close right down to the wire. It could have been either team's win. It just happened to be Dallas's day.

Disagree.. Wilson was awful that day.  We were only in the game because of Dallas' special teams blunders.. otherwise that game was a blowout in favor of Dallas.

If the two teams happen to meet next week though, I don't think the game goes nearly the same way.
