The "Ask a Seahawk Fan" Thread

Have you met many people in the Seattle area that either have seen or heard a sasquatch?

I could have sworn that I saw one in the Mt. Rainer National forest while camping.   The thing grabbed my 9mm and swallowed it whole while laughing like Chewbacca.  Then the sun came up and I realized it was just Pam Oliver, still reeling from the San Fran loss in the NFCCG.

When I took my jacket off and she saw my Richard Sherman jersey she lost it and charged aggressively.   Good thing that Bear control guys were there with extra tranqs.

Lot of stuff to catch up on.. this is awesome.

why and when did they start calling Qwest field (now CL) "the clink"

Do Seahawks fans think it sounds cool? do you think its "badass" LMAO.

Qwest became CenturyLink years ago.. thus the stadium name changed.  I think calling it the "Clink" makes it sound like a prison.. which in a way it can be a prison for opposing teams.  I know a LOT of Seahawk fans were peeved it even had naming rights to begin with.. they wanted to keep the name "Seahawks Stadium" .. I personally don't care what it's called as long as they win at home.

Bruce Irvin was my second pick of the 2012 draft, the Seahawks drafted Irvin with their 1

Do you still think Irvin worth a 1?

Any regrets for cuting Jaye Howard, my 5th pick of the 2012 draft?

At first it looked like a reach, but Irvin has really blossomed into a good player.  Hate playing the hindsight game as far as the draft goes because you can typically assemble an all-star team with the missed picks and "should have taken this guy instead of this guy".  Hindsight has Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner, Michael Bennett (he wasn't even drafted), and so so so many more players on other teams.. so going down that road is pointless really.

As far as Howard goes.. he had a good year in KC, he was more of a product of there being so much talent that some guys were just not going to be able to latch on with the team.  Another result of excellence and the salary cap.

Can't say that I do.  I'm a KC oddity in that I've never been a Chiefs fan, instead becoming a Panthers fan before their first season in 1995, but I've always somewhat followed the Chiefs since they're local. I was only 13 and 14 when the Dale Carter and Lockett plays went down but they stuck with me since they were unique, and this seemed like a great time to harken back to the former AFC West.

This is how it looked DURING the game.. when they figured "ah what the hell, it's good to play now!"

Haha.  None yet.

Ever seen a Bigfoot?

Just a few tall hipsters that aren't big on hygiene

Marcus Trufant isn't even that OG...just saying...

Alright, alright.. maybe not the BEST name to drop.. but I was talking about old jerseys I still own.  I had a Mirer jersey, Moon jersey, Galloway jersey, Ricky Watters jersey, etc .. but since people grow in both directions (especially after the holidays, yikes) .. I obviously do not own said jerseys anymore.

I used to have an autographed John Friesz helmet, which I then turned into my own fun helmet to wear as a kid.. good thing John Friesz is not an autograph worth having.  Also have an autographed Paul Skanzi 8x10 somewhere in my storage.   Rookie Largent cards too.

So THERE.  That's OG :D

How many of you were spawned by Shawn Kemp?

At last count a couple thousand.

I actually met one of his sons at the dog park this Summer.. he currently plays basketball at Washington.  Tallest 19/20 year old I've ever seen in my life.  Nice kid too.

Jacob or Edward?

Jacob.

Haha at calling Trufant OG, yeah the OG's hopped on in 05

Nah nah nah.. if you were rooting for the Seahawks in 2005 .. you're a true fan.  No one was hopping on the Matt Hasselbeck bandwagon that just got robbed for all the world to see because "JEROME BETTIS IS FROM DETROIT!!!!"

is it true that everyone out there sits down when they pee?

Just the Husky fans.

Do you guys seriously think you have the "best and loudest" fans in the NFL or do most fans have perspective and realize that the stadium design is what makes it louder?

I think it's both really.  I think most of the fan base knows that crowd noise there will have a bigger impact due to the acoustics.  And the games are like a college feel.  It's actually kind of inverted up here, Husky games are pretty tame.. even if the team is doing well.. and Seahawk games are nuts.  Even when they're playing bottom feeders like Jacksonville, Oakland, etc.

The atmosphere really does ramp up though for bigger games.  I don't know.. I've been to games at Candlestick, Sun Devil Stadium (before the Cardinals moved to their new digs and for an ASU-USC game when USC was in their dynasty days), Mile High Stadium and of course the Seahawks venues.. and the only one that came close was Mile High.

Irvin had a really nice impact his first year, but the team moved him around a bit. He was initially just a speed rusher, but they played him a lot at SLB last year. This year, he's been working at SLB and acting as a nickel rusher, and his skillset has really rounded out. Whether he was worth a 1st round pick, I think his work this year has ended up justifying it. He gets consistent pressure on the QB and has done pretty well in coverage, too. I'm glad we have him.

Howard was one of those guys we thought would take a year to develop, but had a high ceiling. It would have been nice to keep him around, but considering the depth we had on D last season, we had to let some good prospects go.

Irvin to me is just like Greg Hardy was in his early days as a Panther.  But Seattle is using him at LB.  Put Bruce in at DE and he will produce there.

He plays both really.  The Seahawks will slide Michael Bennett inside and put Irvin at end.  Usually Bennett will be right beside Avril.

Thats really where the Jordan Hill injury stings.. because Hill and Irvin would wreak havoc on the other side, giving the Seahawks a consistent 4-man rush in passing situations.

I am likely older than both of you.   I remember getting a Seahawks' lettermen jacket with the vinyl sleeves for xmas in 1977.  I was already 10 then.   Coming from a family of Steeler fans relocated from PA to OR, it was hard to come by Seahawks gear.  I do remember the first game against St. Louis Cardinals though.   I saw those crazy blue unis and instantly became a fan.

I remember OJ running wild.

I remember Cosell calling MNF   :)

I am older than dirt.

I was 9 yo in 1977....so we are both old farts.

Sorry dude.....but being a fan for 10 years (unless you are 10 years old) is NOT OG.

Hate to break it to you but 2003 is 12 years ago...so 12 >10...

I did not assume that he bought the jersey the year he was drafted.  Most people would wait a year to see if a non QB would be worth the investment of buying a jersey.   He played his rookie year in 03-04.  So, buying his jersey the second year would be the 04-05 season...which is 10 years ago.

Thanks for playing dumbass....but you are the weakest link.  Goodbye

I was 10...  I can even remember when they came in to the league because we collected these little plastic football helmets you could buy from vending machines at the grocery store and Seattle was well sought after...  We thought the helmet was so cool and they were hard to come by...  Good times...  Now Panthers go kick their ass !!   :-)

I did find something to hate.

Coleman is on IR. What is up with the team doctors? Does Coleman not get the best care?

Haha.  If memory serves, Coleman's injury wasn't entirely severe enough to sideline him for the entire season.. they were just so battered at the time of his injury that they had to IR him to get the roster spot.  They used the IR/Return designation on Jeremy Lane.

I like Coleman a lot and his story of how he got to the pros is obviously incredible.  However, for whatever reason.. Lynch doesn't seem to trust his blocking as much.  Lynch and Michael Robinson were completely in sync with each other, but Lynch and Derrick Coleman were not.  Marshawn seems to do a lot better with Tukuafu (a 300 pound guy that has played emergency DT for us too in a pinch)

Any Micronauts?    Aurora slot car tracks?  Black and white TV in the bedroom?

So you remember when the coverage was all Pittsburgh, Dallas, Redskins and sometimes Raiders.

It was like no matter where you were at, those teams (especially Pitt and Dallas) were available to see every week.

Miami was still riding pretty high on their success, but it just seemed like the coverage was non-stop for the Steelers.   Heh.. maybe the Brian Sipe Browns.
