We Can't Let Russell Wilson Slide on Us

So Russell Wilson loves to slide. It's probably because he's so low to the ground already that it just comes easy for him. I swear sometimes, I think that he forgets that he's not playing baseball. We've got to remind him that this is football. It's going to fall on the back end to lay the wood before he can get down. I'm talking Kuechly, Davis, Norman, Benwikere, Harper, Jones and Boston. If this Bruno Mars looking mother F-er wants to step out the pocket and pick up yards on us, then we have to make him pay with pain. We cannot let him impose his will on us by sliding.

Moreover, when he's in the pocket we've got to hit him. Even if we can't get the sack, we've got to get hits, hurries and knockdowns. Unpopular opinion here, but I personally wouldn't even be opposed to an early 15 yard penalty for a late hit, just to set the tone and let him know from the get-go, "We're going to hit you." It's about attitude and imposing our will.

Real QBs take hits.

Let someone on one of the 'hawks boards make a post like the OP and OMFG would the bitching and moaning and "classless" comments rain down on this place like a monsoon.

Fug their candy asses. It's a contact sport and this is playoff football. There's going to be blood and guts everywhere.

So you really expect me to believe that if someone over there said this about Cam

That this place wouldn't be covered up with people bitching about it.

You haven't been around long enough...

No, I'm sure they would. All I'm saying is that this is the playoffs. Make no apologies.

One of my biggest fears is the Panthers will try to play close to the vest and win by 2-4 points. That doesn't work against Seattle. When the game is on the line and Russel Wilson has 4 downs to get 10 yards. He can pull out all the stops and get the touchdown or field goal.

In contrast it is very difficult for Cam to make a last second drive because the pass rush can beat our offensive line when the threat of the run is removed. So if we want to win. Don't expect our defense to hold a one score lead. Actively do whatever you can to make it two scores.

I think the Contain battle works out in our favor considering our LBs and Wilson's run style.

Both QBs are mobile but in completely different ways. Cam's got a pretty effective juke move and he's a big dude who kinda topples his way forward when he runs, which is why he says sliding goes against his nature. All of this is abnormal even amongst mobile QBs and it makes him hard to gameplay against. Even if he's mostly contained he can make something out of nothing just by being unpredictable.

Wilson is the more efficient runner because he commits gaps in the defense and slides early. You're not gonna see him breaking tackles, spinning away, etc often because he doesn't have to. He scares defenses into leaving gaping holes for him and before you know it he's picked up a couple yards and slid for another 2-3 untouched. He needs momentum past the line of scrimmage to slide though and I can't fathom him being able to get past Luke or TD the way they're playing right now. He's only going to rush on us if we're dumb enough to not have at least one them spying on the dude at all times.

Our linebackers get deep in coverage at times. We cannot waste a Thomas Davis on a QB spy job. I was thinking maybe Colin Jones could be a guy for us that we send on the blitz or to spy.

Colin Jones on blitzes ftw! Colin could very well be the person for that job.
