Hot Routes?

Gucci Mane

Recommended Posts

I went back and looked at the int from cam and the biggest concern to me is that we did/do not have hot routes installed in the offense. we have "option" routes, but those are a little different. If we do then philly just forgot to key back to cam when he realized the nickel blitzed. for those saying cam should signal to philly pre-snap. maybe so but then that would tip the nickel not to blitz. once the all 22 comes out tomorrow i can go back and look at the whole game to see if that was consistent.

Hot routes are not installed, but having dump off receivers are. Hot reads are automatics between the receiver and the QB when they detect a blitz. We have them like all 32 other teams. Whether a rookie with limited experience will pick it up and work with Cam to cut off his route is another matter totally. But because you didn't see one doesn't mean we don't have instruction to receivers or QBs about breaking off their routes. Smitty did it all the time last year with Cam.

lol hot routes are definitely installed. every time we ran against the scout team my coaches would set up specific blitz looks and tell me what to read and where to go in relation to the safety or linebacker.

coaches dont just run plays, they have specific plays for specific downs/distance/situations. so with this play i would assume they could have anticipated a blitz on 3rd and long, especially from a team with all around cover corners.

As an aside and not to start a thread and get this on Seattle's radar.

Dickson WILL be the X factor. I expect a lot of two te looks in the red zone. Let KB and or Dickson go up and get it. File this away.

We need to use more 2 TE set against their physical DBs  and pound them inside with J-Stew. Install the run game and use playaction, inside crosses and short dump offs  for long consuming drives. Slam it in or roll out with Cam for TDs.

Defense 3 and out = party like it 1999! :cam:

how epic would a flea flicker to start the game be? theyre going to look at all the footage and see that we usually line up in some type run-friendly formation and usually run it or run PA off of it. bring 11 personnel on the field and let philly get loose on a wheel off of a stalk block. I guarantee the safeties will be tucked in somewhat on the first play. IT WILL WORK.

Hot read options are part of the offense and as such are already part of Shula's scheme. In fact Eugene Robinson last Saturday was saying Shula's offense was actually pretty complex and that Cam had typically 4 options on every play. But hot reads are not options like that, they are automatics between receiver and QB when there is a blitz. They obviously could do more of this type of thing with a team that blitzes but they have been there all year and most times aren't installed for particular games. They are part of the base offensive scheme.

I'm fully aware of what a hot read is ha i guess that wasnt clear. I'm just saying that the situation and play should have had philly with his head turned towards cam if the above picture happens. its not a hard concept and pretty fundamental. im going to assume that this was a rookies mistake. these kinds of things need to be clicking if we want to evolve offensively.
