Who thinks we'll actually beat Seattle on Saturday?

Getting beat by San Francisco in the playoffs last year was an eye opener after beating them at their house 10-9 in the regular season.  San Fran found another gear and beat us at our home.  Panther players were upset and distraught.  We learned that we had to turn it up a few notches ourselves once the playoffs began.  We did that in the second half against the Cardinals despite giving them all 16 points.

We understand the need to crank things up and you can expect us to do that.  We are used to playing teams in loud stadiums with turf as evidenced by shutting down both New Orleans and Atlanta at their house in the last 4 weeks.  The noise won't be the big factor Seattle fans hope it will be and we are used to playing on turf.  It only makes us faster.

What's your gameplan to victory? Any reasons besides how "we're due" or "we're a team of destiny" or "I have a feeling"?

I think we lose 31-13, similar to the Sunday Night Football game in New Orleans last year. We've improved and we've had a successful season where I can see us making a Super Bowl run next year, but at the end of the day, we still have Byron Bell at LT and presumably Brenton Bersin at punt returner.

Didn't you think we would lose to az and atlanta. If that works for you man, but keep it to your cam hating self.

Sea hasn't been blowing away teams lately at home....and the style of both teams suggest unless a team gets very turnover prone it will be a low scoring game

We've played this team tough the past few years and it seems to always be some catastrophic fugup at the worst time for us to lose. Like the pass in the dirt or d wills fumble.

It doesn't take some advanced metric or statistician to see that we are quite capable of beating Seattle so long as we avoid the catastrophic play that buries us in these moments.

EXCUSE ME?

The Hawks won EVERY statistical measurable in that game - The Rams had a 6-0 lead at halftime but only had 56 yards of offense.  The reason that the Hawks were behind is that they uncharacteristically turned the ball over 2 times leaving short fields for the Rams....who were only able to convert those short fields into Field Goals.

Furthermore, the Hawks created both turnovers that led to the 14 point swing in the 4th quarter.

I think we have a chance. St Louis outplayed them last game of the season in Seattle, but beat themselves.

We cannot beat ourselves. HAVE to protect the ball

Not sure if we will but I see absolutely no reason why we cannot.  Sports often does not come down to who has more talent as much as it comes down to match-ups and we match up with them about as well as anybody can.

Seattle's greatest strength is their secondary and how they take these top receivers out of the game.  Our WR corp is weak as it is so it is not like they are taking away a huge asset there, so I think we are hurt less than others.  On the other side, our secondary has shut down both Atlanta and New Orleans of late.  Of course those teams do not compare to Seattle, but both have much better receiving corp.  With the way they are playing I do not consider the Seattle WR much of a threat.  So while they have the superior DBs I do not really think the passing game is a major advantage for either team.

The running games for both teams are the major strength.  Lynch is obviously incredible while Stewart has been the top rusher in the NFL since he was finally forced into the lineup.  By the same token, both defenses are good enough to control the oppositions running game.  I think that the two running games against the two opposing defenses is pretty much a wash.

Special teams scares me.  At this point I would be fine just going for the block every time and having nobody back there to field the ball.  If ST does not screw anything up then that is a major win.

Then you get to the QBs.  Wilson never beats himself and at times will make plays.  Cam is asked to do more and is more capable of making those plays, however he is not as consistent and makes more mistakes.  Basically Cam at his best is better than Wilson at his best, but Wilson is at his best more often.  Cam has to avoid mistakes while making more plays than Wilson

Last but not least there is the red zone.  We have lost to Seattle recently because we trade touchdowns for field goals.  We have to score touchdowns in the red zone.

If we do not lose the turnover battle and we score touchdowns in the red zone I think we win.  If not then we will not.

I think we get it done

Panthers 14

Seahawks 13

Doesn't matter...

All that matters is Carolina matches up well with Sea. Means we should have a shot...as we always do vs Sea

My observations, reasoning, and ideal game plan for the game on Saturday.

Seattle:

1. Seattle is great at home yes.  However they struggled against a Rams team recently and were down until the Rams QB literally threw the game away.

2. Wilson keeps his cool but it still limited when pressure is applied. The Rams did a great job for the most part.

3. Their defense like ours will come to play but they are still human.

4. They do not have a great WR core so our secondary can stick with them minus the spontaneous scramble plays that lead to lofty type passes near the sideline. (It seems like they practice their route routines once Wilson breaks the pocket and they head for the sideline to reduces chances of his passes being intercepted)

Carolina:

1. Carolina has played in playoff atmosphere type road games with wins in ATL and the Saints.  Saints have horrible defense but that offense is ALWAYS a threat to score quickly.  Falcons have great WR core which we held in check. These were also divisional games inside of a dome. I believe this helps prep us big time for the noise in seattle hype.

2. Cam got his first playoff win and had a bad game facing a defense playing all sorts of blitz packages.  Cam now has another taste of exotic blitzes and different looks presnap.  I believe this was a well needed prep game before Seattle.

3. We have LUKE on our defense and I promise he is sharing all his secrets with the crew in the film room all this week.  Luke knows what is at stake and he will have the Defense ready for Wilson.  When we rush Wilson I would like to see us keep his eyes occupied on the rusher rather than down field. So instead of chasing him down like a bat out of hell, chase him to keep him in front of you so that he has to no clue where to juke next. Wilson loves to make you miss, so be aware defense! Just keep him shuffling his feet, and watch him toss up those ducks.

4. Cam was still some what injured when we played Seattle early in the year and I believe he leaves it all out there this time.  Cam had a good prep game with Arizona and that will keep him on his toes for this one.

*Side notes* Raiders made it a close game with the Hawks, 30-24 And they do not have the defense we do nor the running game.

The cowboys beat the hawks and they have a bunch of hard working second stringers on defense.

It can be done, so be a fan not a debbie downer.

If the players show up and give their selfs a chance to win we can definitely beat Seattle. We can't turn the ball over and we have to play lights out defense. This Seattle team is filled up with monsters who are hungry. We have to show up and set the tone early to take the crowed out of it. We definitely have a chance to beat them. Execution in all phases is a must.
