Who thinks we'll actually beat Seattle on Saturday?

I see a dominant win, not on the score sheet, but at the LOS.

14-3 gag Seattle.

First Touchdown:  Long pass into the endzone, Kelvin Benjamin outjumps Sherrod Martin and Kam Chancellor to come down with the TD.  Celebrates by taking 3 long steps and passing the ball between his legs on each one.  Then he takes a knee and puts 1 finger to his facemask to shush the crowd.

Second Touchdown:  Panthers at the goal line, we were stuffed at the line on 1st down.  We threw an incomplete fade route on 2nd down.  3rd down we toss the ball to Stewart.  He gets met in the backfield.  But he shakes the defender!  He keeps going right and fights through another tackle! He's running out of real estate as 3 Seahawks converge on him pushing him towards the sideline.  He stretches the ball out just before he's pushed out of bounds, and he got it!  TD Panthers!

I do think we have a shot.  But my fear is that our resurgent defense has been resurgent against teams that are mostly passing teams.  Of the last 5 games we have played, only New Orleans had a good running attack and they were able to run the ball against us.  They were just to far down early in the game to utilize the running game much.  Seattle, with Wilson and Lynch, runs the ball better than anyone in the league, and they will test our run defense to a far greater extent than anyone has over our winning streak.

This is true, but one thing to keep in mind is the reemergence of Star.  He was extremely limited in the NO game as he was still recovering from the ankle sprain.  He didn't really turn it on until the Falcons game.  He also played extremely well against Arizona.  A healthy Star playing at his best is the difference between our run defense being good and our run defense being great.

Yes, I watched the game in Week 17 when the Rams almost went 2-0 against us for the season - I was there...The Baldwin catch at the end of the first half was for 38 yards - the Hawks won the total yardage by a total of 354 to 203 - even if you take away the 38 yard catch, the hawks still win the yardage battle by over 100 yards....I really don't see how ANYONE could watch that game and feel that the Rams outplayed the Hawks.....

no, it was 354 to 245 yards. Take out the 38 yd hail mary thing to the STL 8 as time expired in the 1st half, it was 316 to 245, a difference of 71 yards.

After 3 quarters, it was 6-6. Then in the 4th, STL outgained SEA 95 to 60 yds but still lost due to three straight turnovers: INT (that set up SEA's only offensive TD), another INT (pick six), then they lost the fumble at the 1 yard line going in for a TD

Other than the hail mary thing as time expired in the 1st half, the Seahawks only got into the redzone one other time: and that was set up by the Shaun Hill INT that gave SEA good field position at the 46 (and SEA capitalized and scored their only offensive TD of the game, a 9-yd run by Beastmode)

As for the Rams, in addition to the 3 costly turnovers in the 4th qtr (2 INTs that led to SEA TDs and the fumble at the 1 that cost them a TD), the Rams shot themselves in the foot multiple times by killing themselves with penalties on numerous drives, including:

-a delay of game at the SEA 15 that made it 3rd and 13

-on other drive: false start at the SEA 29 that made it 3rd and 10

-on other drive: holding at the SEA 24 that made it 2nd and 19

-on other drive: false start at the SEA 17 that made it 2nd and 9

-and on the last drive: offensive pass interference at the SEA 38 made it 1st and 20

While Both teams have gone through major roster/line up changes since we played Seattle last, the game plan for the Hawks will be the same as it was that game: (1) Try and pound the rock with Lynch, whom we basically shutdown while our defense was abysmally. (2) Set up the play action/ roll out pass game to hit TE's down the seam an Wr's underneath and on the sidelines.

I don't expect Tre Boston to give up another TD down the seam late in the 4th qtr this time around. Defense will shutdown Beast mode and contain Wilson by providing constant pressure. As far as offense, Cam and co. Will need to be flawless when we seldomly advance the ball into the redzone.

Prediction: 17-13 Panthers

Ok, I'm going to try something here and it may go sideways...

let's say you have two baseball players running to first base. the first player has perfect form and ends up a slightly faster than the second that has less than perfect form...who you would want? you take the second guy and perfect his form and he beats the first.

Wilson has the perfect scheme for his game, he's not tall and but is quick. he does well in his scheme but rarely throws the team to victory but also protects the ball and can escape containment for 1st downs. He needs the beast mode help to put points on the board and defensive turnovers to protect the win.

Newton has some issue with form on longer passes and the offensive scheme varies game to game. He is powerful and often rushes the team to victory (this year).

We have a solid D and Oline, Newton has a accuracy and zip on short passes but if he can dial in the longer passes and protect himself- it could be the beginning of a truly powerful offense. that's what I'm looking for- a long term answer to scoring TD's and not FGs.

Sooo...I think the Panthers are under rated due to the team's lack of continuity during the season and not using rookies early on. We also don't have much of a deep threat...

But there is a real possibility that it all comes together this weekend...and God help the Seahawks if we fire on all cylinders. SEA always fires on all cylinders and wins but is 27th in passing and 10th in points...and that won't ever change with Wilson and Petey.

So I think we have a chance to have a great game and even better future...we just have to fix the fundamentals to beat the quicker team with our power.

and we do... Panthers get ahead early for 27 SEA gets 17.

And Bene gets one and Norman flies...

Got to love message boards...when someone can't win an argument they resort to mockery to try to show up the person they are arguing with.

Here's a gif of the play.....I think it speaks for itself.....that isn't someone making a mistake....that's someone (Earl Thomas) making a play:

Note that he also has the presence of mind to knock the ball out of bounds with the same hand to prevent a Rams player from possibly recovering it for a TD.

Finally, I don't think that Earl Thomas is a Ninja or anything....or that this type of play is something that could be duplicated on a regular basis.  What it was though, is very heads up.

it was so awsume. it play best ev-ah. Earl Tho-mas kung fu kicked ten pee-ple in the Head and Earl Tho-mas is a nin-JA! He nin-JA jumped 20 feet in the air lotsa times. And he was kung fu kicking pee-ple and karate chopping 3ver-ree-body.

What's your gameplan to victory? Any reasons besides how "we're due" or "we're a team of destiny" or "I have a feeling"?

I think we lose 31-13, similar to the Sunday Night Football game in New Orleans last year. We've improved and we've had a successful season where I can see us making a Super Bowl run next year, but at the end of the day, we still have Byron Bell at LT and presumably Brenton Bersin at punt returner.

That is just a classic example of what side you stand on....

Rams - will say they shot themselves in the foot for one handing a ball like that

Hawks - will say they made D play

Neither are wrong

HEY! Hey!! If you are going to keep post here quit top posting.

Just because you are a Seattle fan doesn't mean you have to be a non-conformist

Yes, I think we can win this game.  But only if a few things happen:

1.  We MUST go to Olsen often.  The Seahawks have been vulnerable against Tight Ends.  Besides that, Greg is our best receiving option.

2.  We MUST throw deep at least a few times.  We need to take shots down the field to keep Seattle from stacking the box.

3.  We MUST stay committed to the run game, even if it does not work early on.

4.  Graham Gano MUST make every one of his field goal attempts.  If this game is like all the others, a FG can determine the winner or loser.

5.  Our defense MUST contain Wilson.  If he escapes the pocket, we will be in trouble.  If Wilson escapes a few times I can see our D playing a softer zone for containment, which will spell all kinds of trouble.

6.  Our defense MUST limit Marshawn Lynch and force Seattle to abandon the run.

And of course...

6.  We MUST score more points that Seattle.

Easy enough, right?

All very good points, specifically in reference to 1 & 2 the Hawks have been very vulnerable to wheel routes involving TE's this year.  Our LBs and Cam Chancellor are generally very good in coverage, but for some reason we've been victimized by a few TE's with that combination this year.  Surprisingly, a few teams went to it and had success and then never went back to it.  (It is a long developing route combo though, so it is possible that teams tried to go back to it, but QB pressure disrupted the play)
