The Seahawks have owned our fat asses for the past half decade, but those bastards haven't seen the new-look panthers

I grew up in Oregon and am Ducks fan, so believe me, I know who Snoop (Jonathan Stewart) is....it about time you guys pulled your heads out and started putting him to good use. :)

The injury bug has plagued his career. Not really anyone's fault, just unlucky.

5) The last time we played the Seattle Seahawks, none of us had said "wakka wakka" during a live game

for SEA fans who don't know, that refers to Foswhitt "Fozzy" Whittaker, out of the Univ of Texas, where he had 2,170 all-purpose yards (955 his last year). As a recruit out of high school he was ranked the #3 all-purpose back in the nation behind Shane Vereen and Omar Bolden (who became a safety and was drafted 4th R)

In our defense, our offensive coordinator has the creativity of a dust mite and he should be working at one of his dad's steakhouses.

A rude awakening? The best running game and best defense in the NFL "at this moment in the game"? I'm sorry, but respectfully, it is YOU who is in for a Rude awakening. Take a look to see who led the LEAGUE for the ENTIRE YEAR for both of those team statistics. In both cases it was the SEAHAWKS who are #1. The Hawks averaged 172.6 yard rushing per game which is 24.5 yards higher than 2nd place (Dallas with 147.1, Carolina was #7 @ 127.3). For defense, the Hawks only gave up an average of 267.1 yards a game which is 33.8 yards better than the 2nd place team (Detroit with 300.9. Carolina was 10th at 339.8 ypg). Rushing defense-wise, the Hawks were #3 @ 81.4ypg (the KC game really killed them) while Carolina was #16 @ 112 ypg. By any of these measures, the Hawks were demonstrably better than the Panthers, while playing a tougher schedule (Seattle's final SOS was top 2 in the league while Carolina's was towards the middle (I've seen rankings between 14-18).

Even if you take into account the current win streaks for both teams the Hawks are leading in all categories:

During the Hawks current 6 game win streak, the Hawks are averaging:

Rushing:170 ypg

Passing: 222 ypg

Total Defense: 202 ypg

During the Panthers 5 game win streak, the Panthers are aveaging:

Rushing: 167 ypg

Passing: 209 ypg

Total Defense: 234 ypg

Things get even uglier when you look at Rushing Defense over the win streaks - the Hawks have only given up an average of 69 ypg during their win streak, while the Panthers have given up 83.

Based on all of the above, and the fact that the Hawks are playing at home, it isn't hard to predict that the Hawks will have more success in all facets of the game...even the ones that you guys seem to think favor you.

First of all regular season stats have no bearing on the post season. It is how you play now not in November that counts.

Secondly what does yards per game have to do with anything? At least use quality stats like yards per carry instead of total yards which have no context. If you run for 100 yards on 20 carries versus 80 yards on 10 carries which is better? Quantity says 100 but common sense and quality says that 80 is much better.

Secondly when did yards ever decide a football game? I thought it was points for versus points against. In your last 3 home games during this win streak you didn't score more than 20 points against middling defenses. You didn't give up much but let's be real here St. Louis, San Francisco and Arizona are not exactly offensive juggernauts. On the contrary we crushed both Atlanta and New Orleans on the road who both have better offenses than Seattle.

The issue will be whether we can score points against Seattle. At this point our offense is at the peak that it has been all year, I think we have the type of team to beat Seattle at their own game.

Not sure where you got your stats. You may want to check them again.

Panthers over the past 5 game win streak is:

Rushing: 194.0 ypg

Passing: 201.8 ypg

Defense: 61 drives; 19.38 yards/drive; 1:58 time/drive; 4.8 plays/drive; 5.1 drives/turnover; 5.6 drives/score; Touchdowns 6; 5 Field Goals.

Seahawks over the past 6 game win streak:

Rushing: 170.0 ypg

Passing: 242.7 ypg

Defense: 65 drives; 19.43 yards/drive; 2:22 time/drive; 5.1 plays/drive; 7.2 drives/turnover; 7.2 drives/score; Touchdowns 3; 6 Field Goals.

'Even uglier' on the run defense? A total of 14 rushing yards is 'even uglier'? I think you need some perspective.

So, of the 7 categories the Panthers hold the advantage in 5. Seahawks take 2 of the 7.

So, explain to me again how the Seahawks grossly out play the Panthers running game and defense? The only thing the Seahawks defense does better is they have been better at keeping teams out of the endzone and limiting them to field goals.

Panthers defense faced 2 of the top 10 scoring offenses in the NFL. The Seahawks faced 5 of the bottom 10 scoring offenses in the NFL - none were top 10 scoring offenses.

How is that for perspective?

To be honest, I compiled my the averages myself from box scores on ESPN.com.  Looking them over, it appears that I grabbed the wrong totals for the Saints game for you guys.  I have you guys at:

Rushing: 197 ypg

Passing 200 pyg

Defense 238 ypg.

The Hawks totals didn't change from my original:

Rushing: 170 ypg

Passing 222 pyg

Defense 202 ypg.

The only category I have you guys winning is Rushing...where are your stats coming from?  I also verified mine with NFL.com  (I would attach my spreadhseet but that apparently isn't allowed)

As for your assertion that you faced the 2 of the top scoring offenses in the NFL - funny how you pick and choose your stats there - The Hawks faced the Eagles during our 6 game winning streak and they finished 3rd in scoring offense (higher than either the Saints or the Falcons (who I have at 12th actually in PPG, although they were 8th in Ypg).  During that 6 game stretch, the Hawks gave up a total of 39 points (average of 6.5 PPG, only the Eagles scored more than 10 and that's because we gift wrapped a punt block for them (ball hit Jon Ryan right in the hands and he dropped it), while the Panthers gave up 59 points (40 in just the first 3 games of their streak- an average of 11.8 PPG).  And the Defenses that the Panthers faced during their winning streak were far worse than what the Hawks faced(All in the bottom 10 of the league) - The Eagles were the worst D that the Hawks faced, but they are better than both Atlanta and New Orleans and only slightly worse than Tampa Bay)
