Honest discussion on Cam's accuracy issues.

Cam's deep ball is very alarming, rarely does he hit a WR in stride that goes for huge yds, all his passes are intermediate to targets standing waiting on the catch and rarely do his passes get a lot of yds after the catch is made, let's be honest, his long, sideline passes are very bad as well, I don't know if all this is intentional under Shula's system or what, but it's alarming

How many deep balls have they thrown this season? Five? Seven? Seems like I can remember every one of them, and most of them were either well-defended because the WR couldn't get any separation, or they were dropped by Benjamin (twice), Cotchery (game-winner in Cincinnati), or went right through Philly Brown's arms (New Orleans).

Based on Cam's first season, we know he can make the long pass, and if those guys had made those catches, you wouldn't be posting that.

Lol what? Brady isn't calm. He's known to yell at players and coaches. Delhomme pouted and no one complained.

And pls don't use Dalton, stafford, Luck, romo as examples until they have more playoff wins than Cam.

Brady never looks defeated. There were times yesterday when Cam did.  Calm meaning he never gets too high when things are going well or too low when things are not.  Brady yells at teammates when they are ahead by 20. He is consistent. About your last comment:  Playoff wins has no bearing on a pattern of behavior that seems consistent in QBs able to get to the playoffs.  I am analyzing the traits of a leader and used a group who led their teams to the playoffs.  You want to take this into an area that has nothing to do with it because these QBs play each other in the playoffs.  Some have to lose and it is a team game.  So use some sound logic. I could say, "Don't try to compare a 7-8-1 qb to 10-win QBs" It makes no difference.  If you think Cam's facial expressions were positive and characteristic of a leader in a playoff situation all game, then say so.  You did not watch the same game I watched.

His mechanics are off at times, especially throwing off his back foot. He looks much better running an uptempo offense verses huddling up. I think a lot of it is nerves and overthinking things. In a hurry up he reacts more on instinct. He'd be much better in a Chip Kelly offense.

Which is why I wish we would bring Chud back, if we still had Clausen then Shula would be fine, we need a OC more like Chud for a QB like Cam.

Plenty of QBs are temperamental. Even the great ones, like Brady and Peyton, even Eli on those two Super Bowl runs would look all kinds of ways on the field. Whatever works for you. If Brady kept his emotions bottled up, he'd probably struggle more often. If Eli didn't shake his head and look surprised, he might not have two Super Bowl rings. When Cam is "having fun" he's very good. What he needs to do is conquer his emotions so that he is always "having fun," no matter the circumstances. He'll get over mistakes much faster when he accepts that everyone makes mistakes, they are part of the game, so if the game is fun, then mistakes are part of the fun, and overcoming them is even more fun.

THanks for an intelligent response that is not insulting.  I realize this, but I don't think I was clear.  I am talking winning and losing attitudes.  There are times yesterday when Cam looked defeated.  Maybe he was not thinking a negative thought at all, but that does not help others.  If Brady or Manning get temperamental, it is when they feel a need to rally the troops.  Things are not going well and they need to become leaders.  It just seems to me that Cam goes into a shell when i am begging for him to become that leader.  His facial expressions, captured on camera, do not instill confidence in me on my couch, so what are they doing to the youngsters on the OL in the huddle?  Even when things are falling apart, I don't think I have ever seen Manning or Brady look as though they are defeated.  Yesterday, I think we were there, until the defense stepped up and Fozzy broke off that screen for a TD.  Then the old Cam emerged.

In his defense, he was probably hurt and in pain when it looked as though he was simply frustrated.  I am not concerned with what he was feeling, I am concerned with the image he was projecting.  I also think Cam is too hard on himself and too easy on teammates.

Do we have a WR who can make those insane catches regularly and bail Newton out?

We see it across the NFL for other QB's, Calvin Johnson for Stafford, Dez Bryant for Romo, Jordy Nelson for Rodgers, Antonio Brown for Ben, OBJ for Manning, Hilton for Luck. The list goes on. Newton has obviously had his mistakes this year, but at times he literally has to be perfect.

Meh, I'll give you those other guys but Aaron Rodgers rarely misses.  Keep him out of the accuracy convo.

People are acting like Cam played like sh*t even the NFL articles are saying we won in spite of him. Cam is a damn good quarter back and an even better person. Everyone trashing him calling him inaccurate and stuff need to shut the hell up and realize that we are in the divisional round of the playoffs for the second CONSECUTIVE time. Why are you guys constantly on his dick? He isn't perfect no one is so stop expecting him to be. Do you guys watch any other football games other than Panthers ones? If you do you'll notice Cam isn't the only one in the league that messes up. This is getting ridiculous no matter what he does it will never be good enough for you people.

Why do any of you let yourselves get pulled in,  thinking some of the trolls want an actual debate.?

Essentially it goes like this -  "Cam is the source of all of our problems with his horrible accuracy and mechanics."

Then someone says - "Well,  he had some good throws and he had some bad throws.. he helped move the chains".

That right there sets up the basis of another thread that will be created either tonight or tomorrow that is titled something like - "Ah ha! Cam apologists and homers think Cam can do no wrong"  or...... "not allowed to say Cam has any flaw,  waa"

No QB in the NFL throws a completely pin point accurate pass every throw. At the end of the day, your WR still has to do his job too.

Yes Rodgers is obviously damn good, but he isn't completely perfect, just like every other quarterback in the NFL.

Aaron also didn't start to look like the guy we know now until his 5th NFL season.

People are saying Newton is having a down year statistically, but he's still put up just under 4,000 total yards of offense this season, along with 25 touchdowns to 13 interceptions, and that's with missing 2 games while dealing with an ankle injury, a rib injury, and a back injury.

i can't help but wonder if ken dorsey needs to be shown the door

Maybe we could actually spend a little money on a quality quarterbacks coach to work with our franchise QB.

Hey, let's take a look at Dorsey's coaching history before this job shall we....

It makes me wonder what part of the game Dorsey addresses with him at practice the most.

Cam can put so much velocity on those short to medium throws that sometimes he's actually a huge rarity throwing fairly accurate throws off his back foot.  That will make him try those more than most QBs.  He just needs to learn the ones that are safe v. potential INTs.

They are minimal fixes to a legit QB so we're still in good shape with him at the helm.

Cam completed 18 of 32 passes yesterday (56%).

AT LEAST four of those passes hit Carolina receivers in an inopportune spot... right in their hands... and were dropped.

So, yeah, Cam would have been "inaccurate" to the point of almost a 70% completion rate if his receivers would have caught the balls that they are paid to catch as professional pass CATCHERS.
