Is This The Most Excited You've Ever Been for a Playoff Game?

No, but that's largely because of a lack of pressure and expectation. Just want to see the team go out and play good ball, and whatever happens, happens.

I personally think there should be expectations on this team, at least for this game.  The Panthers are playing their best football of the year and are getting a home game against a 3rd string QB.

I will be massively disappointed if we don't win on Saturday.  I knew last year would be really tough against the 49ers after they demolished Green Bay.

I was really disappointed in 2008 but in retrospect Delhomme's meltdown had been foreshadowed by his performance over the 2nd Half of that year.

This year's team is peaking right now- a loss on Saturday shouldn't be glossed over with a "just happy to be there" mentality IMO.  Not saying anyone should be fired if they lose, but to me they need a win to call this season a success it spite of winning the division considering how bad it was

All reasonable points, and regardless of what fans think I don't believe that any of the players are satisfied 'just being there'.

I clearly remember the 1996 playoff game against Dallas at home. That will always be my favorite home playoff game. That year the Cowboys were either America's team or a totally dirty team depending on which side of the fence you were on. And we beat them. After beating the other "dynasty" team in San Francisco to get there. We were a new young football family (organization+players+fans) and it was truly an unbelievable feeling.

But I get excited for every playoff game, scale 1-10 I'm at 11. I'll be off the charts by Saturday.

Nope, Cardinals in 2008. NFC was weak as poo that year. I thought that was our year.

I knew that we were going to lose against the Seahawks in 05 and the 49ers last year. They were just simply better teams.

Really? I thought the Panthers had a shot against the Seahawks, but when Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster both got hurt, the Panthers had no running game once Goings went down on the first drive with a concussion. Nick Goings... undrafted FA who was behind Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster and on the depth chart... there's a name from the past.

No. Least excited just for the fact that the team has very little shot at a Super Bowl, which is the real goal.

Most excited was NFC championship in Philly that we drove 500 mile to go see. Then Dallas 2003 (the loudest that our stadium has ever been).

I'm more excited and feel better about this year's then last year's, last year just had this inevitable one and done vibe. It was a bye, 49ers had a huge edge as far as playoff experience and being prepared, plus they wanted to avenge the loss from the regular season. I had a strong feeling throughout the bye week the loss was inevitable, this year we "feel" more like playoff team, I am fully confident we can make a deep run. Despite our stellar season last year, I just didn't have that feeling.
