Superior game plan by Ron & Co. led to ATL win

Even Simms said that Shula's game plan was brilliant and that it does help to have starters healthy. I know there are many here that do not appreciate Shula. I do, no apologies. I think Newton would be further along in his development if Rivera had started with Shula and not Chud. Chud wanted the players to fit into his scheme. Shula schemes for the players he has. Just as an example, take a look at the TE play between the two. When Chud bothered with the TE it was at the end of games, like Greg was a secret weapon not to be used until needed (and often too late to make a difference). Shula will use the TE's to set the tone from the beginning. No coincidence that Greg is over 1000 yds this year. Or that you see many more 3 TE sets this year.

And, boy, don't get me going on McDermott. Love his coaching.

Finally getting even execution from all areas on offense and defense. I really believe the scheme and game plans are solid. The vastly improved OL, DL and secondary execution is making all the difference. Add Cam at the most healthy he has been all year and you see what the potential is.

Rivera won my respect when he benched 3 starters in the secondary and started playing the rookies. That took balls.

Yeah, after/when the season appeared basically over and Ron Ron received loads of criticism.

I'm glad it worked out. However, I'm not impressed. Some of those moves (along with Philly Brown) could/should have been made much earlier.

Problem is: Ron and his staff are usually not proactive, but reactive. And many times, they only react, when the season appears basically over, and/or they receive heaps of criticism.

Right now Rivera's going through a good stretch. However, he's never shown he can be consistent through out a year, cause he appears too slow to adapt to change. He's needs an almost perfect game or season, as last year  from the 5th game on.

What?  An opponent says that we gameplanned well, changed things up and made great adjustments?  And showed a bunch of creative looks on offense and defense?

Exactly the opposite of all the bitching and whining on the huddle for the past few months. What has changed?  Has Shula and Rivera suddenly changed 180 degress or is it possible that it took this long to get everyone healthy, plug in the speed we needed and the team has gelled into a cohesive unit.  Maybe there was nothing wrong with Shula and Rivera to begin with they just didn't have the right players in the right places to run their schemes due to all the issues we have had on this team.

Classy of White to admit they got outcoached and outplayed.

Your biases have totally blinded you to the reality which is that Rivera has never had consistent personnel and has had to shuffle pieces and take guys who were brought in as projects and backups and make them starters whether they were ready or not. The one year we actually have some consistency and we brought in some talent we went 12-4. Then instead of keeping what we had we mix it all up again and start from scratch again. Our schemes are predicated on having a good o line and D line and for high acountability which takes time to develop if you keep shuffling pieces each week. It isn't a coincidence that during the only 4 week stretch where the o line are the same guys each week, we go on a 4 win streak. And once the rookies were ready to play and healthy, they were inserted.

If we keep the players from this year we could start out strong and stay that way. If we do fruitbasket turnover again then expect the same early struggles and a late push as Rivera and his coaches turn our jags, rookies and projects into a cohesive unit. It takes time especially when hampered by injuries.
