Steve Smith "It's nice to play for a team that expects to go to the superbowl

"I got a little emotional after the game," Smith told Shutdown Corner about theRavens' 20-10 win over the Cleveland Browns in Week 17. "I realized that I was with an organization where anything short of a Super Bowl is unacceptable. If we are in the tournament, we are expected to go to February.

"There were times [in Carolina], man, where it was like, ‘Man, I hope I get a chance to maybe play in the playoffs.' That's not a slight to anybody, but that's just what I am experiencing here with the Baltimore Ravens, two-time Super Bowl champs in the past [12] years. That's just amazing and eye-opening to me."

"What happened in the regular season does not mean what will happen in the playoffs. You get into the tournament ... things just happen, and nobody can predict them. Playoff football is unpredictable. It's pressure football, and everyone handles pressure differently. We thrive in it. I thrive in it."

Will this guy ever get his broken heart fixed?

I like how "nobody cares about Smitty anymore" but the guy can't say anything that can be twisted into a slight towards the Panthers without it being brought here...

Is this TMZ now?

I love Smitty now and will always love him. He's not a Panther anymore but I still want to see him succeed.

I love Torry Holt and that didn't make me a Rams fan.

    • What are the matchups, stats and superlatives?   I think this will be a hard game. Bucs are a very balanced team on offense:  7th  in total yards per game, 7th in passing, 10th in rushing. Baker is having another career year even better than last year but despite missing his Godwin and Evans. Bucs defense is poor (29th) particularly passing defense, but we’re also depleted in our receiving with Coker and Sanders likely out. Running Chuba is key but their defense is better against the run. (16th) I think this is likely going to require us to score a lot of points to keep up and hopefully the home field advantage tips the scale in our favor. My other concern is our run defense and being able to stop their rookie study Bucky Irving who the Bucs have shifted more carries to recently and he’s averaging 5.4 ypc and knows how to get into the endzone with 5 TDs so far.
    • This is nonsense and you know it. People will be happy when we are consistently and convincingly winning games against good teams. There are people in here talking down to others after losses and barely beating the terrible NY Giants. If you want to strut around here like only you are a real Panthers fan and rage pooing posts because your jimmies are rustled then hey good luck with all that. I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving.
    • Who had the massive meltdown last year? Hope they feel better this year.
