2015 Carolina Panthers

The win yesterday has me hoping we play far into the playoffs. While the task is going to be tough. I think the talent is there to get it done. It would be awesome if we could play Seattle, GB and Pittsburgh and beat them all, all the way to a Lombardi Trophy. Tough task I am hoping for.

That said, going through our current starting line up. Who are we losing? The Oline I think Bell is unsighed but we were looking to upgrade LT anyhow. Everyone else is coming back. Cotchery?

Defensively Everyone is young except TD and he will always be a Panther. With little turn over to our entire starting lineups we should be in great shape going forward.

Thoughts?

Definitely was going to post on this....

I think O-Line depth is a must. Definitely need a tackle... seeing we will draft later in the first round, we should go BPA (hopefully that's a tackle.)

QB- set

RB- I think D- Will is gone... if we can get him to restructure I think we could keep him. I feel good about our core group with the emergence of Fozzy But if J-Stew gets hurt with no D-will, it could get ugly fast.

WR- would like us to draft someone who has speed. I like Philly and I think he's coming along well... But Cotchery should be done here. I think someone like Stephon Diggs could be a steal in the 3rd or 4th. Has speed.... and could be a viable return man. Hopefully we address this in free agency. I like Bersin, but Im not sure he's ready to step in to be a #2.

TE- like what our guys are giving us here. Ed Dickson has really come on as of late. He and Cam have developed a trust.

D-Line .... These guys seems hungry... but I think we need to draft some young depth inside so that we can continue to be dominant. Our DB's can be opportunistic when we get the right push.

LB's... young rookies have been stepping up. I wouldn't call this an area of necessity unless we find a steal.

D-backs, corners and safeties.... if it aint broke... don't fix it.... unless we're talking about Roman Harper. Good leadership... not enough speed. Would love to see us draft an apprentice for this group. Trusting Dave's eye to find some late round talent on this one.

Kickers... call John Kasey to see how he's feeling?

I said this in another thread last night: I fully expect Bell to enter into a scenario like Frank Omiyale did years back. Sign with another team for decent money, then just sort of flame out shortly after.

I think Norwell is definitely a longterm solution. That dude has perennial pro bowl potential.

I do think there will be one cut that will surprise everyone. Maybe it's CJ. Maybe it's Kalil. Maybe it's someone we don't expect. I'm not sure.

Cole and Edwards both have contracts ending, so look for a draft pick or signing there. I think Love was signed to stash away for next year because of just that situation.

Hardy and Deangelo are gone. There may be a surprise somewhere but I don't think anyone we lose is going to hurt us that bad. I think we will try to get another WR high in the draft with all the drops KB has been having. Needed another one anyways. Definitely see a OT, and SS being drafted. I also think we will try and get a kick return specialist. Ginn made a huge difference last year, and obviously Bersin is not the answer. Anyways, I'm not worried about offseason stuff right now. Just ready for the playoffs

Tom Sorenson had a great article about next year.

Although the Panthers won 12 games last season, the franchise is in a better place. They started seven rookies last week against Cleveland – two at guard, two at wide receiver, two in the defensive backfield and, because of an injury to A.J. Klein, one at linebacker. A rookie defensive end also played, and played well.

If this group goes anywhere, it will be to tell their friends that they’re playing in the NFL.

Last off-season the Panthers had to scramble for offensive linemen, receivers and defensive backs. They signed several second-tier free-agents, few of whom contributed.

This off-season they need to find a starting left tackle. There is a potential candidate, albeit a long-shot, on the roster. He is Mike Remmers, whom you had not heard of when the season began.

I don't think Kalil just because he is the glue to that OLine. Since he has had Norwell and Turner beside him he has played up to his Pro Bowl level.

Cole and Edwards are clearly on the downside of their careers and could sign for small contracts.

I agree with CharlottePanther that we upgrade LT, SS and slot receiver (KB @1 Brown #2). Use the other draft picks for depth.

I would like to see a fresh new RB in the mid rounds for backup to J-Stew.

The biggest factors we've had in our turnaround are youth in the skill positions, technique on the oline and guys taking vocal rolls that weren't taking those same rolls earlier.

We need more depth up front on both lines, more speed on the outside for Cam and we need a safety/RB/return man.

Some of those needs can be filled by the same draft pick if we are shrewd in our analysis of the prospects.

This is where I'm confident in G-man. He already has a plan for the draft. He just needs to know where he's picking and who wants to remain a Panther.

I don't necessarily think that it would be Kalil, but I was just naming guys who a) have a large cap hit coming up and B) who would be a surprise to be cut. Someone is getting released that we have no idea about yet, and it's going to shock us all.

Both safeties may need an upgrade, not sure. SS definitely does, though. Brown isn't a #2 receiver. I'd be hard pressed to consider him more than an awesome 3rd down passing option at this point in his career. We're going to have more cap space, so I'd like to see us invest in another true receiving option. (Torrey Smith is a free agent, and my God, can you imagine the receiving corps with T. Smith/Benji/Olsen/Brown?)

I could also see Gettleman targeting a defensive end in free agency. JPP is the name that sticks out due to the fact he's similar in play to Greg Hardy. He can stop the run, he has a constant motor, but he doesn't get as many sacks. Gettleman is also very familiar with JPP.

As far as the draft goes, I think you're going to see a RB get drafted somewhere in the 3rd-5th rounds, a CB will get added, a DT will be added, and I'm almost certain a pass rushing OLB (the heir apparent to TD) will get drafted. If Shaq Thompson is there in the 1st, I think Gettleman runs his nippleshorts to the podium and turns his name in.

I'm really interested in Stephen Hill, if he pans out after a season/off-season of work.

Cole is probably gone, Edwards may be.

We need a stud LT, but probably won't be able to get one in the draft so we will re-sign Bell and hope to get one later.  Stranger things have happened.

I think we draft another WR, another RB, and some DBs.  We'll likely be BPA in every round, which is how it should be.

This is really intriguing. We have made many practice squad moves where this guy could have been cut. We have carried him all season long.

Did Proehl give this guys some hands to go with his speed. One year with the master and this guy could be a valuable addition next year.

We'll know when the season is over and the free agent and draft picks come out. If we don't pick a WR with one of our draft picks or sign a free agent might be an indication Hill has been transformed.
