Wat Cardinal fans are saying

I do not hate Cardinal fans, I admire them.  They got hosed last year by not getting into the playoffs with double-digit wins, then they turn around the following season and have to travel across the country to play a 7-win team.  They had it all going in the right direction when injuries crippled them.  Their qb went down for the season the game after signing a huge extension.   They have worse luck than we do, so I am actually sympathetic and hope to watch their bad luck end one more season prematurely.

Of all the matchups we could have gotten, I think this is the most favorable... however, anything can happen.

The last time we got a home playoff game vs AZ it caused me to be depressed for 3 years afterward and it caused Jake Delhomme to lose his mind... so...

If, IF, we can play again like we did against NO and ATL, we can definitely win.

I have to be honest tho, Special Teams scare the crap out of me.

Me and you both on the special teams.  They've looked okay lately but you always hold your breath for the fumble, missed tackle, etc.  Hopefully they will play solid football going forward.

That second to last guy was amazing posting all that from his mental institution's WiFi.

Only thing about the Cards that concerns me is the defense. Our WRs will have a tough job getting open on Peterson and Cromartie. So aside from the occasional shot down field to KB(hopefully he doesn't drop it) and Philly out of the slot, the WRs will be out of it. I'd look for favorable matches - any of our TEs should own their defender, and if we can get the run game going like we have been, the offense should be able to do what they've done these last four games (hopefully more of what they did against the Saints and Falcons).

Like the fact that Dickson has shown up the past few weeks. The extra TE outlet is huge IMO. One extra wrinkle can create a lot of opportunities.

i wouldnt characterize this  game as a "revenge" game. that loss in 08 is gonna sting until we win a superbowl. that was our best team and best chance to win a super bowl we've had so far imo

I'm not sure I would agree with that.  That team was a good offensive team but had serious issues on defense, and in most cases you need a strong defense to win in the playoffs.  Even in the earlier Arizona game that we won, they were able to move the ball on us at will the whole game.  That defense felt like it was barely hanging on all season.  I definitely didn't see the Jake turnover show coming, but I was worried about that playoff game due to how close they played us in the first one.

2003-04 was a much better team because of the defense, and not just because of the Super Bowl appearance.

2003 > 2008

2008 was just a rush attack....89 had numbers but you could almost see the Delhomme meltdown coming all year.

2003 was the most complete team. IMO.   Which is why that Superbowl is viewed as one of the best games.

This really hit home yesterday. It seems that when they have the lead, teams don't come back on them. I feel like we haven't lost a big lead since Ron's been here. On the other hand, I don't remember them coming back from being way down either...

You must not have been around in 2011. We had a 24-7 lead on the Lions and Falcons that year, a 13-0 lead on the Packers. We were beating Chicago but I don't remember the score. I think we led in 14 of our 16 games that year and only won 6.

So yes, we have lost quite a few leads under Ron.
