Will Derek Anderson be a Panther next year?

DA for Josh Gordon?

MAAAN if Cleveland cuts him, Carolina should be first in line to sign him.  He won't command much money because of his off-field issues but could be signed on one of Gettleman's one year "prove it" contracts.  Could turn our passing game into one of the best in the NFL with him, KB and Olsen.

Dave would trade him in a heartbeat for a 3rd

Seriously, that's what I'm getting at here.  I'm wondering what kind of trade offers the Panthers might get for Anderson.  Some team on draft day doesn't get the QB they wanted so they get desperate and trade for him or something.  Not a lot of QB's worth a crap coming out of the draft this year not named Mariota or Winston.

I'd rather keep him as a backup than any pick a team would be willing to give up for him....he is the best backup in the NFL and no one would give up a 3rd for him which is probably what it'd take...no way would we ship him for a 4th or less...he's more valuable than that IMO.

Don't underestimate having such a good backup especially with all the beatings Cam takes.

Derek wants to be here AND signed a very cheap contract to show that each year. If derek comes to dave and tells him "I want another shot at starting", well trade him to the highest bidder.( prefer afc & non nfc south teams too). Having a top five backup is very valuable. Without derek the panthers would not be in the playoffs.
