Will Derek Anderson be a Panther next year?

I don't see anyone offering us a high pick for him.

Anderson seems to legitimately be very happy here, I don't think he's just saying all the right things for the media.

Him and Newton get along very well, and he does his job well when we need him to run the offense. If we want him, he'll be here, imo.

He's 31....he's still got 4 to 6 seasons left in him...keep in mind

he's spent a lot of time on the bench not getting roughed up.  And he's a smart

guy.

He has value.  QB's are hard to find....look at teams with good defenses that need

a QB.....they'll look long and hard at a guy like Derek....don't see a first being traded but I could

see a third.

And I wouldn't give him up for less than a third....he knows our system, he's a team player,

and every time we've asked him to play for us he's done great.  I might not give him up

unless we get a  second, and considering we're drafting at the end of each round again,

that makes him an important asset.

I hope we are able to keep him until he want to hang up his cleats, but I wouldn't be surprised if he tested the free agent market next year to try and get a starting job. Backup QB has got to be the greatest position in football. If you have to play because of injuries you can play awful and no one will care.

First round for DA?  What are you guys smoking?  I gave this a little thought before the start of the game, but didn't really see anywhere he could go.  Webb is a decent backup QB for OUR system, but DA brings a ton of veteran leadership that you can beat bad teams with.  I would love a first or second round pick for DA, and then draft another young QB in the late rounds if we wanted.  Keeping young, QB talent on the roster as a backup could potentially help down the line a la New England Patriots.

I'm just imagining this scenario where he goes back to Cleveland.  They have two first round picks!

Very Tempting...

But how likely is it that the person that we draft with a Cleveland pick able to make a difference if Cam goes down?

Not many options there.

I'd say it all depends on what DA wants to go with his last years in the league. If he wants a shot to start, he'll go find a place to compete. If he's satisfied to be a part of the Panthers and perform as needed (and make some good money carrying a clipboard) he'll stay.
