what offensive identity can maximize the potential of a receiving corp that comprised of players who all had the same identical characteristics, a running back that kept you in 3rd and long, and an offensive line that was simply offensive?

again, not defending shula...but there are too many parts to this puzzle that people are ignoring.

I was watching the game in the dome with my best friend (who happens to be an Atlanta fan),  he kept asking questions like "why are your guards on my linebackers" and "Is that your center lead blocking 12 yards down field"?.  Blocking has improved both run and pass.  Cam has room to step up , we are seeing less overthrows.  Holes are opening up instead of backs being tackled 1 yard behind the line of scrimmage.  Playcalling means nothing unless the players execute the play you called.

 

Same thing defensively, with our secondary not sucking, all of a sudden our pass rush is better.  Everyone blaming the lack of pass rush on the loss of Kraken, maybe should have focused on the loss of Mitchell and Munnerlyn.  Collin Jones, Josh Norman,  Bene and Boston are huge upgrades over Cason, Godfrey, Decould and Melvin White. Now all of a sudden our defense looks like last years defense.

 

Execution is greater than play calling in my opinion.  It's not like people are creating new and innovative offensive plays.  If your O does block X then the whole design of the play doesn't work.  Matter of fact I think Shula is using mostly Chudzinski's old playbook anyway.   Shula has made some bad calls without a doubt, but it's more than just calling the play.

I still don't like shula's over reliance on running up the gut when the first attempt was totally blocked. We did that against the falcons yesterday and it ended up being a fg try because shula wasted two opportunities to throw a td into the endzone

  Sims doesn't strike me as much of an expert - but I di think the point about plays Shula had for runs - like a Bill walsh passing game -was good.

Tre- Mason with the interception (teleported in from another team in another stadium, at another position).

 

and

 

They need to do something to get Benjamin's confidence up - after he dropped a designed gimme from Cam.

Yea Cam being healthy and using more audibles has a big effect as well.

 

The offense could still use an upgrade at the OC spot even though Shula is sometimes serviceable...it's just about improving all around rather than just sticking with "good enough".

I'm not a huge fan but the logic you tried to use to bash him made no sense.

 

There is a tendency here to take the stance that you hate Shula so you look at everything and try to twist it to a Shula bashing. When you don't actually think about what you are saying it comes out being rather silly like it did in this situation.

There were a lot of audibles Cam was calling at the line. Makes me wonder if Cam is thinking "that's a stupid play, let me change it."

Plenty of coaches have a system and the players have to fit the system.  Look at Chip Kelly as an example.  He has a system which he fits people into not develops a system for the people he has.  More coaches do that as opposed to have the ability to create a system based on personnel.  So what you want is the exception not the general rule in the NFL.
