How rare is it...

...that we have two corners that can not only cover, but can tackle as well?  Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere are really holding things down.  They have potential to be better than Chris Gamble and Ken Lucas in their heyday. (Their best year was the 05-06 season I believe)  As for Bene, I always figured he would be our shutdown nickel corner.  I had no idea he would be this good on the outside, holding his own against everyone he's been up against so far.  As for Norman, he really flipped a light switch this year.  We all knew he had ball hawk skills, but now we can put him up there with the top corners in the league.  I'm not saying Norman has arrived, which shows you his true potential, but I would take him right now from among the top corners to shut down big time receivers.  Let's see if they can hit new heights in this playoff run.

so excited to have a good young secondary. We will get a good young SS at some point to throw in there and it will be incredible with our dline and linebackers for years to come. Especially after we shed some of the annoying hurney contracts

If we can add a legit SS and another solid CB our secondary will be scary.

The fact that our young secondary is playing this damn good and our O-line has vastly improved makes me very optimistic that we can make a strong playoff run.

He was targeted a little bit.  When the defense played man to man, Matt Ryan really had no where to go all day heehee.  They got their biggest yards when we went to zone coverage.  I know there was at least two times where Bene got to the receiver at the same time the ball arrived, and was able to knock it loose.

The progress this guy has made since college is remarkable. Watch his cut ups from college and you'd think this guy was more afraid of contact than Deangelo.

It was clear he had solid ball skills and was athletic but I thought he was way too slow and simply couldn't tackle.

That's always true but our secondary actually is good now and they helped the pass rush as well this time...there weren't many open WRs today man...

Norman has done nothing but shut down elite WRs this season, is there some other stat or metric in placing value on CBs that im missing?! I think I saw someone say Norman is ranked near the bottom of the league of CBs, how is this so?! Os it because he doesnt have a lot of ints?

CBs job isnt to accumulate tackles like LBs nor is it to sack the QB, so what is it based on and given how well Norman is playing, why isnt he "elite"?

I think most people go by interception count.  Usually once a corner gets probably six ints or higher, people start giving him the title of elite.  Also I would say longevity counts.  I'm hesitant to stamp Norman as elite just yet due to limited starts, but I will say I would take him right now among the elite.
