...but, because the word "vanilla" is being used so liberally, I am just wondering why people are so in love with it this pre-season? I guess that to be chocolate must be da bomb.

Because Preseason is full of base plays and nothing creative we call it Vanilla. Vanilla=plain

Well, I guess as stated, it means Basic... but, here's a couple definitions from the Urban Dictionary for ya:

I would kinda figure that it's more a slang use for the word. Kinda like a s***ty defense is a bad one, a Vanilla defense is a plain or basic one. Or a a Swiss Cheese defense just has holes.

It could be the American fixation of food placed into everyday use as they hunger for things?

I tried... But that's me not doing any real research on it.

Oh well.
