Need advice on camera and online storage

I'm planning on buying a new camera in $600-$700 range... any advice?  I know nothing about cameras.  I used to have Lumix which was underwater, shock proof with built in GPS and etc.  It was amazing camera for traveling and activities but now I have a kid and I do not travel as much so I need something different.

Also, I'd like to save all my pictures and videos online.  Anyone have any recommendations?

Get a refurbished Canon 60d body and then buy a 50mm f1.8

You can get a zoom lens too if you need one - all for less money than a new camera with a kit lens.

For storage I have iCloud (and Dropbox but I don't use it) that I use for my phone but everything I take with my actual camera is put onto one of my several 300gb harddrives. I take thousands of pictures though.

What are you looking for in online backup? Is it strictly backup so you wont lose them or is it a way to have anytime access to view them?

If its strictly backup I'd go with Crash Plan or Carbonite. Roughly $50 a year for unlimited backups and its a set it and forget it type of thing that backs up your files automatically.

If you want to view them on demand, just do Google drive or something similar. I think they give 15GB free, past that you have to pay for, but it's not much. Those services don't backup your files automatically , though.
