Same thing.

Oline plays better = Shulas doesn't suck,  Cam is playing better

Silatolu and Chandler playing =  Shula is the worst OC in history, Cam is digressing.

They're terrible and Chandler was the worst starting RT I've ever seen.

Cam has all day to throw now and Shula is doing just fine.

meh, it depends on how you read it and your interpretation of what he meant by simplify. i read it as streamlining things...not dumbing down.

I think that's what he was getting at but it came across another way, to me at least. Should have said shulas play calling had been better, which is true because we are utilizing the threat of all the talent that cam has. Even if it's just the threat of it. Cam is still going through progressions, even in read option. We are putting the game in cams hands more than ever this season. Which a lot of ppl didn't want to happen to get some of the burden off of cam to make plays, but he is excelling

Cam is audibling at the line more so than I ever remember in up tempo offense. Even on read option plays he has three reads before he decides to take off, hand off or pull up and pass

Eh, I don't look at it as a total package.  I pay attention to the individual pieces.  And as an individual, Shula's playcalling has been a little better the past 4 or 5 games.  Still not good, but better than putrid.  Cam had never regressed, despite Shula's playcalling and the OL sucking on a historic level.  He was just asked to do more with less.  No player plays in a vacuum.  The things people tried to nitpick, like "forcing throws" and "poor decisions" when nobody was open, was bad playcalling, bad OL and Cam being the type of guy that'd rather risk a bad decision than be stuck in neutral.

I see what you are saying.  However bad O line play effects everything.  The offense best games happen to coincide with Cam not getting murdered.  Total disintegration  of your line effects everything.  The 2 games we didn't allow a sack we scored 41 and 38 points.  Play calling is 1 step in the process.  If people don't block its not going to work.

Shula has called some head scratchers.  But X and 0's don't matter if you're O's don't block.   I have been harping on it for 2 years but Amini Silatolu sucks and has sucked for as long as he played.

Up until this year people kept giving him a pass, but he consistently caused Cam to move off his spot.  Our Oline play improved everytime he was off the field.  When Wharton replaced him last year the O line got immediately better.  People can post as many PFF grades as you want, but even though its not a sack or listed as a pressure it effects QB's greatly to have to move off their spot in the drop back.

Back to the original statement, I think if Oline play was better there wouldn't be much issue with Shula around here.  Or a running back sucks issue.  It will go back to the need more weapons issue.

eh. he made it sound kind of like cam is a huge dumb dumb and we have to simplfy plays so he can make the proper read.

thats retarded.

I think that's how you took it, there is no need to be insecure about Cam's intelligence. Cam's strong suit isn't his football IQ but that isn't what makes him a good QB. We as true Panther's fans all know the truth.

Meh I explained it in this thread or another one. I'm not insecure about cam like some folks on here. He needs to get better but he is asked to do a lot in this offense, which he should be because he is the qb

I totally agree with you until the last paragraph.  I still think the plays Shula has been calling have been better than the plays he was calling for the majority of the season, no matter the execution.  For example, we've seen fewer bombs on 3rd and short.  I was watching one of the recent games with a friend and I mentioned on a 3rd and 2 "here comes the patented Shula low percentage bomb on 3rd and short" and then I looked foolish when it didn't happen.

But I've had a problem with Shula's playcalling since last year when our OL was playing decent.

this is basically the third time they've had a "win and get in" game.

They've not done what they needed to do in either.

1998: Didn't score enough points against Saints to win tiebreaker against Packers. Wouldn't have mattered anyway.

2004: Jake had his worst game ever as a Panther against the Saints

I have no optimism at all. That said, I'll be at the dome.

Actually, its the 4th. They needed a win to get in Week 17 of the 2005 season, in Atlanta. It was a curb stomping that put us on the path to our 2 big road wins in the playoffs. Oh yeah and jake infamously tore his pants.
