matt moore should be a starter at least next year

The NFL, more specifically John Fox, doesn't work like that. Jake's the starter, and unless he has a string, and I mean a 4 or 5 game string of bad games, I wouldn't anticipate seeing anyone else start at the quarterback position for us anytime soon.

Doesnt matter what Fox does if Jake has two or three bad games in a row I will holler bloody murder.

I personally just can't believe that people are still anticipating Moore to be the starter once Jake is done.

Heck, after hearing all the talk last night about Henne stepping into the starting role in Miami soon, Pennington definitley seems like legitimate possibility here.

Whether that would be good or not, I don't know, but it would be a very Foxy-esque move.

Jake played pretty damn good last night, and that is without Smitty, Moose and Stewart. The offense is not what I am worried about.

Oh, and I dont see Matt Moore ever starting here. I would much rather have Tavaris Jackson.....which could be a possiblity.

question? what has matt moore done in his career that would make any sane or rational person want to replace delhomme with him?

Better question for you......

What had Jake done before he came here, for us to put HIM in the starting role? He was 3rd on the roster behind Weinke.

I look at it this way, gotta start somewhere, just like with any rookie that comes right out of college.

I hope he get's his sh1t together, but it's been a year, after year problem with Jake, we all know that. He is "serviceable", and the one with the most experience is about the best compliment I can give him. Can he play lights out.....you bet. Can he do it on a regular basis......ahhhhh no.

Never know what any other back up has, until they are handed the job, till they loose it.

Sorry did you see the game last night? Jake did fine last night no reason to pull him at this moment. If Jake starts playing bad I will be the for him to be pulled but last night he did fine.!

Nice joke!!.. Now who are you really?

    • If he was a vet or had 3 years of full playing time in college, it would be different, I'd lean more on the side of caution.  But this is someone who now over the last 4 years, has really only played in games for one of them as he had 51 combined carries his first two years in college. If he wants to reach his potential, he needs reps and he needs them this year, he can't miss another year without meaningful game snaps. The knee is structurally sound at this point being a year out from injury and today's tech/rehab capabilities.  Sure his lack of game shape could lead to pulled muscles or something, but it's not going to put him at risk of a more serious injury to give him 10-15 carries right out of the gate. Also, we need see what he's got, to know if he's going to be able to handle a 3 down role next year before the offseason.  Because if he can, then we shouldn't be re-signing Hubbard as he's earned a decent contract from someone next year.   We can't give that out to a guy who will end up being a backup to someone on a rookie deal, it's a place we can save money to spend elsewhere for a few years, as we could get a much cheaper backup option in free agency or even draft someone else in like the 5th round to be his backup and really save money at the position.
    • Imagine if we have a defensive draft next year that's just as good...
