SI Most Disappointing - Star

people need to understand that we didnt draft star to be a stat and tackilg machine.. we have one of those behind him in Luke.

His main job is to keep mother fugers off of our tackling machine. Wth Hardy gone and CJ injured Star was left to man the front on his own sometimes

This. He's a nose tackle. That position is similar to an offensive guard in that when he does his job well, you usually don't notice him. It's only when he makes a splash play or screws up that you usually notice a nose tackle when watching live action. He's also missed a good amount of time due to injury. I would say that he's having a down year compared to his rookie year, but he is still absolutely one of our key building blocks for the future.

I don't know why people get offended by articles like this. It's true. Players have down years. Star set the bar pretty damn high last season and his success hasn't continued. NT isn't some magical position where you can take up space and still be judged as successful based upon arbitrary metrics. At the end of the day, you still need to have tape that gets you noticed and the truth is that Star had PLENTY last season and virtually none this year. That's a disappointment.
