My God it is pathetic to see how many ignorant posters we have on this board.

IT WAS A PRESEASON GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those of you who think the sky is falling, please jump off the bandwagon and move on to another team and another forum. You are stinking up the place.

Peppers is almost unblockable for most OTs in the NFL. He get's held, doubled often, and QBs use a 3 step drop out of fear of him. Pepp is just about the only reason why teams don't try a lot of deep passes against our defense. Did we overpay? I don't think anyone on this forum can determine the monetary value of any NFL player going into the season. Personally I always thought that the Panthers gave Peppers a back loaded contract because they planned to trade him when he became extremely expensive. At any rate, Peppers strikes fear in the hearts of opposing QBs. They know he's coming. Don't worry about preseason. The preseason game goals for superstars are as follows:

#1) Avoid injury

#2) Knock some rust off

#3) Make $$$$$ off ticket sales and television/radio to keep the owners happy

#4) Laugh at McCown

I call B.S. on that! He may have the talent to be almost unlbockable. But he must not be applying it because I see him get single blocked a lot! Every DE in the league gets held so spare me that bullcrap excuse. I'm not sure which games you Pepper homers have been watching. But he has been very blockable for years now. He isn't worth a million a game. Sorry.

Holding Peppers like hell is NOT the same thing as blocking him. It's cheating that needs to be flagged. Any dumb lummox can grab Peppers and hold on for dear life 1 on 1. He is nearly unblockable when he isn't being held, or doubled. You don't know what he's worth, sorry. Go tell a pro football team that you know what Peppers is worth, and be ready for laughs.

LOL..... 31 NFL teams said what he's worth this past offseason! The only team stupid enough to pay his salary was the Panthers. If he is what you say he is, someone would have paid the price!

Take off your nuthugger glasses and really watch the games. ALL DEs get held. It's part of the game. And he does not get double teamed that often. I'm sick of the Peppers apologists shoving that lie down my throat.

You act like it was only money involved. Odd. You think I don't watch the games? You think opposing teams allow Peppers to go 1 on 1 a lot during passing downs? I don't need to hear any more form you. You are clearly wrong.

When did I say it was only money involved? And yes I do think teams block Peppers 1 on 1 during passing downs. Actually it happens a lot. And even if he was getting double teamed "every play", thats no excuse! Great D linemen beat double teams. You think Reggie White, Bruce Smith, etc. didn't get doubled? Just keep sucking the teet! Ignorance is bliss.

31 teams weren't going to give up 2 first rounders, it wasn't about the salary.

Peppers is worth every penny. Combine tackles and sacks of the best DEs in the league for the past 4 years, this is what you get:

Jared Allen: 258.5

Aaron Kampman: 249.5

Julius Peppers: 198.5

Osi Umenyiora: 194.5

Aaron Schobel: 187.5

John Abraham: 168

Justin Tuck: 155

Mario Williams: 152.5

Richard Seymour: 126.5

As you see, Peppers is the 3rd best DE in the NFL despite what any of you nimrods think. Without him, our line would suffer greatly. You guys think we can just grab anyone and we'll be fine. Guys like Peppers are hard to find! We already are piss poor at the DT position. We have solid DEs opposite of Peppers, but no one of his caliber. You guys are stuck in 2007...my advice to you guys is to get over it! He's already proved that '07 was a aberration by reponding with his normal average in tackles and career high in sacks. He also hurried the QB, made RBs run the other way, disrupted the backfield...what more do you want!? Hell, opposing teams designed plays to go the opposite way wherever Peppers was lined up! And if you want to know how Turdovac was holding him back, click the link in my signature.

I've resigned myself to the fact that morons are going to criticize Peppers for the rest of his career. People attached the slacker label to him and after 2007 it stuck. Some people can't understand that Peppers isn't simply a pass rushing specialist. If he doesn't have a sack he didn't play well, or at least that's how the naysayers think. Frankly, they quite often just make things up. They say he gets pushed around the whole game, when that clearly doesn't happen very often. I've seen games where Peppers was all over the field, being disruptive and then come on here and read about how he was invisible, simply because he didn't notch a sack. Unfortunately, once something like this picks up momentum, the masses go along with it.

EXACTLY! This is 100% true. I watched Peppers all of last year and saw what you saw. Then I come on here and people are bitching about him after almost every game! It's ridiculous.

I never said he was doubled every play. Are you reading my posts? Who were you quoting?
