Philly Brown Development

I think one thing about Rivera is players do respect him.. Rivera is a football guy, you can tell by the way he talks to the guys in the locker room. But its still an alpha respect. You see "players" coach like Atlantas HC.... Atlanta has some talented guys, but they don't seem to rally around the coach and shut up and listen when he talks.

Rivera was a linebacker, he's a large man. I think he can most def improve in the way he adapts during gametime but off the field he's a legit man

in a thread about player development, you're acting like brown was this good and ready earlier in the season. Thus ignoring the fact he has developed.

But don't let those facts get in the way of your Rivera bashing.

Yeah, but it appears to me Rivera didn't play Philly Brown cause he thought he was ready. He played him when the season was seemingly over, and had nothing to lose. Kinda like what Rivera does routinely/over the years, when he makes other moves with the season seemingly over, or when he's desperate.

So, I guessed you missed the OP's statement/question regarding Rivera and the coaching staff input and possibly coaching Brown up.

However, let's not let the facts get in the way of a targeted retort.

I guess YOU missed the question. I wasn't asking about Rivera overall as a coach. You went on a rant against Rivera that really had nothing to do with the topic. My question was specifically in regards to whether Brown fixing his mistake clearly one week later could be attributed to Rivera. And less specifically, whether young player development in general can be attributed to Rivera. Not whether he played the right players at certain times or not, which you aren't even qualified to have an opinion on anyways.

Rant? :cigar:

The fact that you brought Rivera's potential ability to question allowed to me say what I did, which made it quite relevant.

What you asked was speculation that none of us are qualified to answer yet.

However, we do have a large enough window/body of work to address whether or not both Rivera and Shula are slow to make adjustments. You care to argue, disagree with that?

You were pretty much basing Brown's alleged development on one play now (then potentially asking, attributing to Rivera)?

Who cares!?

Quite honestly, considering Brown's slight body of work (and given example), you're post was premature and quite speculative. What I said made just as much sense/was equally relevant (though you don't have to agree with it).

Brown was only used more, once the season appeared basically over. This is part and parcel of Rivera's Modus Operandi since he's been here. And since you brought up Brown's potential development, and who's responsible (including Rivera), I brought up the subject of utilization by Rivera considering circumstances, which made perfect sense.

Nuff said.

You can tell the coaches notice his improvement by not doing punt or kickoff returns and letting him get more involved in the passing game. It also shows their trust in Bersin. Fox never allowed young players to play through their mistakes.

Rivera has allowed them to compete and improve.

Sadly he had a 7 game winless streak to show for it too...

the team never had that mentality of the season is over. Thanks for playing.

Not sure about that (though I see your point).  Remember, they did have a 7 game winless streak, and appeared out of sorts/DOA after the Cincy Tie debacle.

Luckily for them, the division fell back in their lap, and they started to play better when the opportunity arose.

Can't argue with that.

Good Luck to them on Sunday Afternoon!
