Last week Jeremy posted a topic about Philly turning his back on the play where Stewart fumbled at the goal line. He would've been in perfect position to recover the fumble but was instead just walking away.

If you watch this Stewart run from yesterday, not only does Philly make a crucial block (that looked like a pancake to me) to help set up the run, he then (after hesitating a bit) hustled his ass off to be there right in the play as Stewart is tackled, ready to recover any potential fumble.

I love to see this development in a young player who has impressed from day 1. People have wanted Rivera gone for much of this season, but can development in young players like this be attributed to his coaching?

Sounds like someone got on Philly for that fumble play....and he listened and learned. Good sign for a young player.

You do realize, Rivera made the Philly Brown and other moves after season appeared over?

My question: Why didn't Rivera make the Brown and other moves earlier in the season when they seemed more valuable at the time. He can't get a pass, because the division just outright sucks. The season would be over in practically any other year.

Remember, the Panthers had a winless streak of 7 games, smack dab in the middle of the season. And it only appeared Rivera started to make these moves, after the Avant statement, and when the Panthers looked seemingly out of it.

So the question IMHO, really isn't, do the Panthers have some talent on the team? It's do Rivera and Shula know how to properly utilize them? And even if so, can Rivera coach well enough during games to where it will even matter/

I'm not arguing one way or another. Just showing evidence of a player correcting a mistake he made the week before. Maybe it's Rivera, maybe not. Regardless, it is a good sign for this team.

Even if Philly never amounts to anything better than a #3 WR then we still did good considering he was a UDFA.

Hearing people here post about Browns ability to run block makes me think he could be around for a while considering the system we use. I honestly would like us to draft a WR in the first round of the draft. Imagine our team with 2 good WRs and Philly as our slot/3rd WR? Bersin as our 4th and Hill or Cotchery as our 5th.

in a thread about player development, you're acting like brown was this good and ready earlier in the season. Thus ignoring the fact he has developed.

But don't let those facts get in the way of your Rivera bashing.

You can tell the coaches notice his improvement by not doing punt or kickoff returns and letting him get more involved in the passing game. It also shows their trust in Bersin. Fox never allowed young players to play through their mistakes.

Rivera has allowed them to compete and improve.

Philly was injured earlier, and was not as familiar with the offense.  Players develop. and this thread is about the development of players.  Not only with Philly, but with Norwell, Turner, Ealy, Bersin, etc.

If you blame Rivera for not putting them in earlier, you do not understand.
