Voth speaks the truth on Cam

You know what I noticed Sunday? Cam is good. Really good. I already knew that, but paying close attention Sunday, watching carefully, I saw him looking off defenders, going through reads, reading defenses, calling audibles and making throws into tight windows. He is way more advanced than his peers and he's way more advanced than the sports media gives him credit for.

Love cam but he was not flawless Sunday.. It qualifies as a gutty effort but he was just ok, we could have lost if we weren't playing cleveland

Knew someone would focus on that word, that irrelevant detail, and ignore the bigger point of it all.

Would you have agreed if Voth had used "gutty" instead of "nearly flawless," or not bothered to comment at all?

There are some Panther fans who still don't understand this...

Panthers needed a come from behind drive to win against the Cleveland Browns... but the top headline was "Cam calls fans classless."

Its beyond unfair....

I don't know any other quarterback who has gotten this kind of smear campaign in the media and has to consistently overcome it.

Actually I believe you don't understand how the sports media world works, of course it's not fair...

Personally I believe Cam was out of line with the classless comment, he doesn't know the intent of the cheers, by most peoples account the cheers were more based on the play( a big tackle for a loss on a flashy player)  than the perception of actual injury. It's not like Jambonie stayed down or really looked hurt writhing in pain, but that's not the issue. It is headline worthy when you call out the people responsible for the outrageous amount of money you get paid to play a game.

Like it or not Cam brings this on himself (and not by accident), if he doesn't want attention he needs to be professional in interviews and keep the answers to the game on the field or personal critique. Anytime any "franchise" QB steps outside that bubble it's going to be sound bites all over sportscenter, this isn't unique to Cam. if Peyton makes a bad joke it's a soundbite, when Brady calls out NE's fans it makes headlines (don't believe me google Brady calls out fans).

As far as getting recognition for actual play, Cam plays for the panthers, and quoting the "great" JF it is what it is, until this team becomes constantly relevant they are also rans, meaning unless a great performance comes down vs one of the constantly relevant teams (see Cam vs NE last year) the praise won't come. Having a good drive to scrape out a win vs a team you should beat by 14 points isn't headline worthy, it's just not.

It is not that some fans do not understand this.

It is that some fans realize that we have no control over it and that whining about it accomplishes nothing.

I never care what the media says or does not say....the best way to stick it to them is with the play on the field.

Voth putting this in print is the best thing that could have happened.....it is one of their own calling them out on it.

If Luck did what Cam just did the passed 2 weeks, ESPN would call him God

That's the thing that trips me out...

It can be argued that the Colts don't win because of Luck, they win in spite of him.  The guy is reckless.  If I'm not mistaken, he either is 2nd in the entire league behind only Cutler in turnovers, or he actually took the lead after that debacle against the Cowboys Sunday night.

And yet, still, I've heard it said multiple times this week how Luck is "on another level," by national media figures.

fug ALL THAT.

I don't care about national media anymore...  Cam has his endorsements, he's getting paid, so they aren't affecting his bottom line.  Good luck getting horse faced Andrew Luck those endorsements.  I'll gladly take less media coverage for an incredible overall career for Cam.

Couldn't agree more.

Why do you guys latch on to one or two things and try to make it a national phenomenon?

The first question out of the back up host for Colin Cowered to Trent Dilfer was in fact about Cams gritty performance. Trent said he liked it but it was to be expected and then clarified to make the point it wasn't to say Cam isn't tough but that other qbs over the past decade would not have pushed through.

Some of you perpetually torture yourselves over the media's take or lack there of. Do you need a specific # of positive articles or lead stories to feel Cam or the team (remember those guys?) get their proper amount of credit?

Bigger fish to fry than to wring your hands over really dumb stuff.

You guys act like children.

I saw one word in here that does it for me.

Fair.

There is no such thing.  Honestly, who the hell cares what ESPN says?  Do you think that what Ron Jaworski says about Cam has any bearing on anyone inside the Panthers org.?

The best thing about him Sunday was him moving around in the pocket avoiding defenders. That last throw to Dickson he avoided the defender off the blitz and then moved to his right avoiding him again while keeping his eyes downfield to deliver the ball
