If Cam Newton jokingly uses a video game character to nickname one of his opponents, it makes all sorts of headlines. But if the Panthers quarterback plays a near-flawless game in a must-win situation with two broken bones in his back 12 days after crawling out of his flipped-over truck, it doesn’t seem to attract the same amount attention.

There are some Panther fans who still don't understand this...

 

Panthers needed a come from behind drive to win against the Cleveland Browns... but the top headline was "Cam calls fans classless."

 

Its beyond unfair....

 

I don't know any other quarterback who has gotten this kind of smear campaign in the media and has to consistently overcome it.

Good read.  The guys on the Blitz actually gave Cam some props after going through the highlights.  The show immediately went back to something about Ohio.

I get his point, but if SportsCenter had gone all-in on this gutty performance, they also would have had to have shown that horrific pick he threw which people think is what he does all the time anyway. Wouldn't have mattered.

Love cam but he was not flawless Sunday.. It qualifies as a gutty effort but he was just ok, we could have lost if we weren't playing cleveland

Based on that alone, Voth is 100% correct.
