Brandt: Draft position will likely be 21 (provided we get the W)

Link Gil Brandt provides our top three needs as well.  You know me, I'm taking pass rusher off and replacing it with wide receiver. But Brandt has a lot of insight, probably knows G-man personally, and knows the complexities of being a GM.

A lot is at stake in this game, and I am sure that some people still actually want us to lose simply because of draft position. To hell with that. I want to win and let the chips fall where they may. Sure all of the ballyhooed OTs and CBs may be gone, but G-man is paid to figure that stuff out.  I'm sure there will be another A-rated pass rusher that will be available that he will take and make the Huddle tilt off its axis (LOL).

21. Carolina Panthers
2014 record: 6-8-1 (.496)
Top three needs: Pass rusher, OT, CB
Analysis: Any team without a left tackle will have a difficult time on offense, and the Panthers' offense struggled in 2014. When Jordan Gross retired last year, Carolina moved Byron Bell from right to left tackle, but his run blocking and pass protection have been equally subpar. Right tackle hasn't been much better with Nate Chandler. The defense has been struggling to mount any pass rush without Greg Hardy, and who knows what his future holds.
Top-rated seniors at positional needs: Pass rusher: Vic Beasley (Clemson), Alvin Dupree (Kentucky), Owamagbe Odighizuwa (UCLA); OT: Brandon Scherff (Iowa), Cedric Ogbuehi (Texas A&M), La'el Collins (LSU); CB: Ifo Ekpre-Olomu (Oregon), Kevin Johnson (Wake Forest), Byron Jones (UConn

LT is an obvious need. CB isn't as scary as we thought at the beginning of this year with the outstanding play of Bene and Norman as of late but having a another solid CB wouldn't hurt.  That WR2 is a big need.  Philly has been great and I agree with Proehl, how was this guy not drafted by anyone? If we could compliment KB & Philly with a #2 that would be sweet. Safety is a concern and is a top 3 need in my opinion.  Kony has really up'd his game lately and put on some size but I guess getting another stud would be helpful, besides CJ is so hot/cold.

Biggest need....OC.  Wish we could draft one of those.

I could see us going OLB/SS in the 1st (Shaq Thompson)

I want Devin Smith in the 2nd! He'd bring that explosiveness to this offense that we're so badly missing!

At some point we need to address the obvious need that is LT but this class seems to be getting weaker and weaker with each passing week

my money is on DE in the 1st. I know we have bigger needs, but i have a feeling Gman pulls a Giants type move.

IMO this will have more to say about Big Money than anything else.

I can certainly see this happening though, if the player is right at the pick.

    • I only have the vaguest idea of what that's like. Years ago, both my kneecaps popped out of their grooves while I was running on a treadmill. The pain was pretty bad at the beginning but it got so bad, I thought I was 100 years old with how excruciating it was to walk anywhere. Thankfully, I only needed special knee braces to pop everything back into place.  Saints have kept finding ways to be relevant despite their chronic cap issues. I'll believe it when we start seeing their throwback jerseys again.
    • yeah it was wild, folks coping that stroud wont be top level cause he cried when a guy got a knee injury. like WTF folks. thats one of those alex smith type, oh poo this is really bad moments that the guys who have seen leg injuries even knew was anything but normal.  sucks cause dell is a great story, mid rounder who always kills it. also that little guy that just makes plays all year long.
    • Off my memory, this team has generally not been able to run a screen that works to save their life. I still remember Cam got picked off a few times trying to run one. Probably the most consistent YAC concept we've ever had was Smitty's smoke routes; those were borderline cheat codes at times. That's about all I remember for the entire season. Meanwhile, I get envious of watching teams like the Rams and Chiefs. Constant little checkdowns and then it's 10~15 yards with defenders either seemingly out of place or well blocked.
