Jarrett vs Moore for third WR???

Moose's run blocking will keep him as the #2 spot all season but Moore could very well step up and become the 2nd best reciever on this team.

And my God, do people really believe Fox starts players or keeps players based on draft status or number of years in the leauge? In the NFL winning is the only thing that matters and loyality means nothing when you get down to it.

Now, if you want to throw some hate onto Hurney's lap, who is Fox's boss afterall, then go ahead. If drafted players are staying on the team too long or anything to that effect it is coming from Hurney not Fox.

Foster starting over D Will forever? Kris Mangum staying here forever when he was complete garbage? Mike Rucker and Mike Minter staying here WAY past their time? Richard Marshall only now cracking the starting lineup?

Foster was starting over DeAngelo because DWill was having trouble picking up blockers in pass protection. It was the same thing that kept Brandon Jacobs from starting in NY for a little while. Mangum was here because he was a good blocker, regardless of how bad he was at catching passes. Rucker was still the 2nd best DE on our team when he retired, and Minter the best safety. Who was challenging them for starting time that didn't get it? We did make efforts to replace them and they all worked out very well.

The Foster/Williams situation was not as translucent as many make it out to be. Was Williams clearly the better runner, yes. But by Williams own admission he had not picked up on the blocking assignments. In Memphis he was really never asked to do that and it took time for him to get to the point that he could be the starter and contribute in all phases of the position.

Kris Mangum was the best TE on the team the entire time he was here for the role in which the TE was asked to play.

Who was cut or not started that was better than Rucker and Minter? No one. It's fine to cut a player but you better be sure that when you do you have someone at least on the team that is better or at least as good as who you are cutting.

I'm hoping that Marshall turns out to be a good starting corner but at what point during Lucus' time in Carolina did you see Marshall outplay him? And Lucas was out for a number of games the last two years.

Now with a lot of these examples there are some issues involving cutting a player to create cap space or a player being paid way too much for the amount of talent that is being protrayed on the field. But that isn't Fox's responsibility. And as close of friends as Fox and Hurney appear to be make no mistake that Hurney is the one in charge and when it comes down to it his word is final.

Can we just get over Jarrett all ready, he isn't going to turn into ANYTHING. We need to add a #3 (possibly #2 in the offseason), but we obviously won't ...

1. Smith

2. Old Moose

3. Jarrett/Moore

...just doesn't cut it...

There are plenty of WR out in the 2010 free agent class...Lee Evans, Steve Breaston, Braylon Edwards, Vincent Jackson, Dominik Hixon, Brandon Marshall, Antonio Bryant...

I thought I read somewhere that the Miami starting corners didn't even play so Jarrett couldn't even get open against them. The only problem I see for Moore is that he doesn't seem like a great blocker, although I'm merely assuming because I haven't seem him do much of that but other than that I think he is the perfect guy for the slot.

he whiffed on one play, i think it was a play our rb cut back to the left and the play was supposed to go up the middle, but he still didnt engage the block to the end of the play in this one example.

The blocking is a significant issue because I think that Fox considers a receiver's ability to block as important or perhaps more important than a receivers ability to catch the ball. Else how did Kerry Colbert stay here for so many years?

    • If he was a vet or had 3 years of full playing time in college, it would be different, I'd lean more on the side of caution.  But this is someone who now over the last 4 years, has really only played in games for one of them as he had 51 combined carries his first two years in college. If he wants to reach his potential, he needs reps and he needs them this year, he can't miss another year without meaningful game snaps. The knee is structurally sound at this point being a year out from injury and today's tech/rehab capabilities.  Sure his lack of game shape could lead to pulled muscles or something, but it's not going to put him at risk of a more serious injury to give him 10-15 carries right out of the gate. Also, we need see what he's got, to know if he's going to be able to handle a 3 down role next year before the offseason.  Because if he can, then we shouldn't be re-signing Hubbard as he's earned a decent contract from someone next year.   We can't give that out to a guy who will end up being a backup to someone on a rookie deal, it's a place we can save money to spend elsewhere for a few years, as we could get a much cheaper backup option in free agency or even draft someone else in like the 5th round to be his backup and really save money at the position.
    • Imagine if we have a defensive draft next year that's just as good...
