Kony Ealy Development

I think some of y'all are really underselling Hardy.  Kony has improved, but I still haven't seen anything that leads me to believe he's going to be he player that Hardy is.  If you watched a young Hardy you could just tell the guy was going to be a beast as long as he put in the work.  He didn't rack up the sacks, but he was still all over the place as a rookie... deflecting passes, being one of our best STers, blocking kicks, stuffing plays behind the line, and just in general being involved in plays around the ball.  Kony has just kinda been there.  Granted, he has improved lately.

I think Ealy can be good solid player for us, but I feel like you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're expecting him to be as good or better than Hardy.  Hardy turned into a true elite DE over his last two seasons with us.  Even when he was still here and it was obvious that he had surpassed CJ a lot of fans tried to undersell Greg's talent and say he only did good because CJ was on the other side of him.  Don't understand it.

Honestly, I fuging hate that we're going to lose the guy.  He's too damn good to just lose and get nothing in return.

I don't know who's saying he will be another Hardy, I don't agree with that, let him be his own player.

However, yes Hardy showed promise, but he was not doing all those things in his rookie year lol.

It's interesting how you can give all that praise to Hardy who actually had time to develop, yet fill in Kony's future before he's had his time.

Hardy mostly just showed a lot of promise as an athlete when he was a rookie. He didn't have great technique and seemed to run himself out of plays because he wasn't particularly disciplined as a pass rusher or run defender quite yet. Ealy is less of a freak athlete but seems to be picking up the technique a little more quickly.

He's been developing nicely, offseason workout program will help him. He needs to get his strength up

This x1000. He just not strong enough right now. Glad that's something he can improve.

For comparison Charles Johnson came in benching 33 reps of 225. Kony came in benching 22 reps for 225

I'm still hoping we sign Hardy. I know it won't happen, but I think he's going to be good in this league for a long time and he's probably learned a lesson and grown up some.

I don't know how we went from "don't rush to judgement" to totally turning our backs on him.

He and Ealy could be a great tandem for the future.

That's how I felt when Peppers and Smitty left here. Hope Cam doesn't leave in the same fashion.
