I respect the Falcons, at least they don't settle for inconsistency and mediocrity unlike JR and this organization, inconsistency and mediocrity has always been accepted here, I guarantee Rivera stays no matter what happens

the falcons and panthers are basically the exact same team in terms of playoff success, division titles, super bowls, whatever metric you want to use.  the only difference is that the falcons have been around since the 60s and the panthers haven't.  i know the "hur hur JR always settles for mediocrity and he loves losing and is basically david duke and hitler's love child" angle is a popular one on this site but you need to choose a different franchise if you want to make that comparison.  like one that isn't an exact mirror image of the panthers.

 

if you want to get more specific they've barely been better under blank than the panthers have in the same interval.  like i'm talking a few one and done playoff appearances better.  the panthers have actually won more playoff games since 2002 (the year blank took over the team) than the falcons have.

 

i'm by no means going to bat for jerry richardson but jesus dude come on

I live in ATL and am forced to know a lot about the Falcons organization (sports radio). I will agree with respecting Arthur Blank, because he doesn't take any BS. If you don't perform, you get fired. People always bash JR for running the Panthers as a "business first". But the truth is, Jerry is too loyal to his employees (or too cheap) and keeps people that drag his organization down around for too long. i.e. Marty Hurny and Ron Riviera. And that my friends is why we end up being mediocre.

This.. The ONLY reason Hurney was let go was because he was working without a contract lol, JR cares nothing about winning, he knows he makes his money from the transplants that come and watch the opposing teams play, JR always intended the Panthers to be a team that makes money off the people that move to Charlotte from other cities and states, Charlotte is a basketball city not a football city, JR just cares only about the money. We aren't meant to become a "storied" franchise like the Giants, Steelers, Packers etc. The Panthers exist to make money off those Packers, Steelers and Giants fans that live in NC

Nah you don't understand. We've got our MLB trying to cover wide receivers, dt playing de, nt playing dt.

There's no identity to the defense. I still couldn't tell you what our base d really is.

There are some bad players on the field. Kroy, goodman. But it's nolan putting them out there.

The whole thing is a cluster fug.

yep richardson brought an NFL team to charlotte solely to make money off fans of teams that we play at home once every few years.  it's a fail safe business plan!

 

i mean really charlottepanther-all the different ways you can mount a "richardson only cares about teh moneys" argument and that's the one you decide to run with.

      I don’t see what would make him so good with Bryce to be honest, that we aren’t covering now with Tet and Coker. We need a Smitty type. Easier said than done but those smoke screens and stuff, with two Moose types for people to worry about, seems better to me. A little guy with supremes quickness, that will fight for a ball thrown to him. Smitty was a very rare specimen.    I think looking for straight up speed to go downfield, can’t really use it with Bryce. I feel like a speed demon would just outrun Bryce’s ball and have to coast on his deep routes to stay within range.  You need a QB that will launch it 50-60 yards so he can turn on the afterburners and go.

      I still can't believe Harbaugh took the Giants job knowing the Bills job was going to open up with anything less than a Super Bowl run by McDermott. Now he's stuck with basically the white Lamar Jackson, on and off the field, a RB who will be in the WWE in 2 years, and Malik Nabers who will want to be traded by the end of next year.  Not to mention that division is an absolute gauntlet.  Stefanski to the Falcons, unfortunately for us, is a great hire.  He will see what a bum Penix is, make Cousins the starter and they will run away with the division for the next 2-3 years.  The rest of the jobs are great opportunities to get a guaranteed $30-$50M depending on who you are and where you go, but there isn't a single job out there where you are going to win immediately other than Buffalo (where you have to deal with a front office undermining you) and Baltimore (where your QB purposely sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles and dresses like he's in a Bobby Shmurda video).

      Folks complained quite frequently when DJ Moore was here that he was not a #1 and never would be. That was when he was still on a rookie contract and then briefly on the new deal we signed him to which now looks like an absolute steal compared to his current contract. If he were here now making what he's making we would never hear the end of it. Gotta turn the page.
