What's so bad about Seether...in your opinion?  Great lyrics, great music, elicits some kind of emotion..what defines great music to you?  That Avenged Sevenfold tune did nothing for me, the music was good, the vocals were good, but it elicited 0 emotion.

You like what you like.. and fug what anyone else thinks. Although, I really don't get the folks who feel the need to tell someone else that their tastes suck, they also don't bother me in the slightest. Does it make them feel superior or something? I guess... bully for them?

There's plenty of good stuff in that timeframe.  

 

Off the top of the cranium--DJ Shadow, Streets, Daft Punk, Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, Wilco, Modest Mouse

 

Hell, one of greatest career closing albums came from 02--Johnny Cash's American IV.  

 

Some of the pop-rock was notably awful though I'll give you that.

I haven't watched MTV in 20 years or regular radio in 10 years.  There are no more dedicated record stores.  I'll take what I hear.
